Good morning, what are the causes of foreskin inflammation and swelling?

If parents do not pay attention to the cleanliness of their children's external genital organs, it may easily cause foreskin inflammation in their children. If a child has foreskin inflammation, it may also cause some redness and swelling, which may easily cause difficulty in urination. The following editor has compiled some reasons why children have foreskin inflammation and swelling, hoping to be helpful to parents.

Boys' genital hygiene should not be neglected

The external hygiene of boys, like that of girls, should not be taken lightly. When a boy is in infancy, the foreskin and glans penis are adhered, making the foreskin unable to be turned up. This is a normal phenomenon. But when the baby is 2 to 3 years old, as the penis and glans grow, the adhesion will gradually be absorbed, and the foreskin can be turned up to expose the glans. At this time, parents should pull up the foreskin and clean the glans with water, otherwise diseases such as foreskin adhesion, balanitis, urinary tract infection or other diseases may occur easily.

Symptoms of balanitis

At the beginning of the disease, it is membranous foreskin adhesion, and as the disease progresses, it becomes fibrous adhesion. Due to the excessive length of the foreskin and the small foreskin opening, urine cannot be completely discharged during urination and is accumulated in the foreskin sac, causing a swollen ball-like object to appear inside the foreskin. If urine is often stored in the foreskin sac, it will irritate the foreskin and glans penis, causing the local epidermal cells of the foreskin to fall off, forming a milky white tofu-like substance called smegma. Smegma can cause ulcers or stone formation on the foreskin and glans. If inflammation occurs repeatedly and irritation is repeated, penile cancer is likely to occur.

How to prevent balanitis in children?

Parents should help boys clean their foreskin and glans at least once a week. If balanitis or post-skin inflammation has occurred, medication should be used for treatment and the area should be washed with 0.1% potassium permanganate solution daily.

If the foreskin is too long, the foreskin opening is narrow, and it tightly wraps around the glans, making it impossible for the foreskin to be turned up, this is phimosis. Circumcision should be performed in the absence of inflammation.

The above is what the editor has described about the symptoms of foreskin inflammation in children, as well as some content about how to prevent polio inflammation. The editor hopes that after my introduction, parents will pay more attention to the baby’s personal hygiene when caring for their babies. The editor hopes that the baby will recover soon.
