Why does my child drool so much?

Why does my child drool so much?

Many children will drool at certain times. Every parent will be very troubled when encountering this because it is a bad habit. However, many children drool not because of congenital problems. So you must have an understanding of these phenomena so that you can respond in time and regulate your child's body, which will be very beneficial to your child's body.

1. Normal physiological phenomenon

Children usually start to secrete saliva between three and four months old, but the amount is not large. As the teeth erupt, especially when the first deciduous tooth erupts between ten and seventeen months, the salivary gland duct openings will be stimulated, causing more saliva to be secreted. However, the child's swallowing function is not yet fully developed, so the child cannot swallow the saliva, and the saliva will flow down the lower jaw. In severe cases, the lower jaw or neck may become red or even rupture.

If your child happens to be at this age stage, especially between four to six months, which is a critical period for the development of the child's swallowing and chewing functions, parents should provide corresponding training for the child.

When adding pureed foods, such as rice paste or egg yolk, you cannot put them in the bottle and feed them to the baby with a pacifier. The correct way is to mix them into a paste, feed them to the baby with a spoon, and place the food on the baby's tongue. The chewing of the upper and lower gums and chewing muscles can achieve good coordination and cooperation.

This series of actions requires children to practice repeatedly, but children who lack such training may not be able to swallow their saliva, so saliva will flow out.

2. Lack of chewing of upper and lower gums and chewing muscles

Although it is normal for children to drool, it requires long-term and repeated practice to avoid or reduce the phenomenon of drooling.

So there is a reason why children drool so much. After understanding it, you will know that not every child will drool. At this time, you can adjust your child's body according to your child's specific situation, then your child's body will gradually get better, and there will be no drooling phenomenon.
