Why do children cry at night?

Why do children cry at night?

After a busy day at work, we parents really want to have a good sleep at night. However, parents with babies feel very troubled, because they don’t know why the baby will cry at night, leaving the parents at a loss while they are sleeping. Only when we parents know the reason why the baby is crying can we calm the baby down. So what is the reason why babies make noises at night?

1. Hunger: Artificially fed children do not eat enough, or some people mechanically and dogmatically breastfeed at regular times and in fixed quantities, resulting in insufficient milk for breastfed children. This makes the child often in a semi-hungry state, and the hunger is more obvious at night, so he cries incessantly.

2. Too much sleep during the day: Children’s total sleep time per day is certain. If they sleep too long during the day and cannot fall asleep at night, they are likely to cry.

3. Wet diapers: Wet diapers can stimulate children to fall asleep, so they cry.

4. Intestinal parasites: Infections by roundworms, pinworms, hookworms, etc. can cause changes in the excitability of the child's nervous system, or digestive dysfunction can cause abdominal pain, which can cause children to cry at night. Especially when infected with pinworms, the adult worms crawl around the anus at night to lay eggs, causing itching, making the child unable to sleep well and cry constantly.

5. Vitamin D deficiency: Because children stay indoors for a long time, lack sunlight, less exposure to ultraviolet rays, or suffer from long-term diarrhea, they absorb less vitamin D, which leads to calcium deficiency in children, increased nervous excitability, unstable sleep, and crying at night.

6. Infantile intestinal spasms: can occur during the day or at night. It may be that changing or adding complementary foods during feeding, overeating, infection, allergies and other factors can cause paroxysmal and strong contractions of the smooth muscles in the intestinal wall and cause abdominal pain.

7. Acute abdomen: Children suffering from acute abdomen such as appendicitis or intussusception may have paroxysmal abdominal pain, causing the child to cry at night. This disease is serious and you should seek medical attention immediately.

8. Acute infection: If a child suffers from a respiratory tract infection, the fever will cause general discomfort, the nasal congestion will affect breathing, and the child will often wake up crying. If you suffer from otitis media, you may cry incessantly due to local pain.

There are many reasons why babies cry. Because babies have a single way of expression, they only use crying to express their demands rather than language. Our parents and friends just need to eliminate the above reasons one by one, so that our babies can sleep peacefully and our parents and friends can sleep better!
