What to do if your baby has a fever and is afraid of cold

If you have a fever as an adult, you may be able to recover from the cold by improving your lifestyle habits because of your good immunity and physical condition. But what if the baby has a fever? Many adults will think that the temperature is too high and immediately take off the baby's clothes. But many times, although the baby has a fever, he feels very cold. Many new parents don’t know what to do at this time.

Most babies have fevers due to catching a cold. If the baby has cold hands and feet, white tongue coating, pale face, and light-colored urine during the fever, parents can use ginger and brown sugar water to dispel the cold, and add 2 to 3 one-inch long pieces of green onion to the water, which has a sweating effect.

If a baby over 2 years old has a fever, parents can give him a massage. First rub the soles of the child's feet to draw the heat to his feet. After the feet are warm, rub the calves. After the calves are warm, rub the hands, arms, back, and finally the child's ears. When massaging, be gentle and slow, and give your baby plenty of water. If the baby continues to have a fever, you can use warm water to wipe his body, and use a towel to rub the baby's body to warm and reden it to dissipate heat from the baby's body; if the baby still has cold hands and feet, it means that the baby has caught a severe cold, and you can give the baby ginger and brown sugar water to drink several times in a row. Parents need to be reminded that the order of drinking scallion, ginger and brown sugar water plus massage treatment is to drink the scallion, ginger and brown sugar water first and then massage.

If your baby feels cold and shivers a little, it is mostly during the period of rising body temperature, that is, the body temperature is still continuing to rise. At this time, you should keep warm. Fever mostly indicates inflammation in the body. It is recommended to check the routine blood test to see if it is a bacterial infection or a viral infection so as to prescribe symptomatic medication. In addition, if the baby's temperature exceeds 38.5 degrees, you need to take oral antipyretics. You can choose Enrique, Motrin, Tylenol, etc. to avoid high fever convulsions caused by excessive body temperature. If the body temperature is between 37.5-38.4 degrees, you can adopt physical cooling measures, such as wiping with warm water or alcohol, placing a cool towel on the forehead, etc. When the fever subsides, the baby will sweat a lot. You should reduce the amount of clothes appropriately and change wet clothes frequently to prevent the baby from catching cold. Give the baby plenty of water to prevent dehydration. In addition, according to the results of routine blood tests, anti-inflammatory or antiviral drugs should be used in a timely manner. Only when the inflammation subsides can the body temperature return to normal, otherwise the fever will recur.

If the child's fever is above 38.5 degrees, it is faster to use Motrin to reduce the fever. If it is between 38 and 38.5, it is better to use Tylenol. If it is a low fever, don't use either of these two medicines, just use common cold medicine. Baby cold medicines such as pheniramine also have antipyretic effects.

Drink more warm water, take Xiao Anruike orally for fever reduction, eat light and easily digestible food, avoid raw, cold, hard, spicy and other irritating foods, eat small meals frequently, avoid overeating, keep warm, and avoid catching cold, which will make the cold worse. After the fever, the body is weak and the disease is not completely cured, so nutrition and care should be strengthened.

Therefore, if you want to be a qualified parent, you must understand every aspect of your baby. Otherwise, when something happens to the baby, if you follow the adult's approach, it may backfire. As new parents, some of them have learned a lot.
