Treatment principles and methods for cerebral palsy in children

Cerebral palsy is a relatively serious disease, most of which will endanger the child's physical health. In particular, the frequent occurrence of these symptoms will affect the child's intellectual development and may even prevent the child from walking formally. So in the rest of life, let's learn about the treatment principles of cerebral palsy in children.

1. The principle of gradual progress. Since cerebral palsy is a chronic disease, it requires patient training day after day. The recovery of various functions mainly depends on the children's own exercises with the help of doctors and parents. Therefore, the children must first be allowed to adapt to various movements. If the child cannot sit, let him sit by himself. You can also break down a function into several movements for the child to practice. The daily training time should be planned and not too long, so as to prevent the child from feeling tired, bored, disgusted, unwilling to cooperate and other negative emotions. The training should be diversified so that the children feel fresh and increase their enthusiasm for training.

2. The principle of non-replacement. It is impossible for children with cerebral palsy to complete every movement by themselves, so parents must help them. But it must be emphasized that help is by no means a replacement. For example, when eating, some children can eat slowly by themselves, but their posture is incorrect and they easily get their clothes dirty. Parents can only help correct their incorrect posture but cannot feed them. The correct way should be to help the child use the correct posture to hold the spoon to eat. After a long time, the child will get used to it and be able to eat by himself.

3. The principle of not over-care. Many parents of sick children always take excessive care of them unconsciously out of pity for their children; in fact, this is not only unnecessary but also detrimental to the training of the children. Over time, too much care will inevitably foster laziness and dependence in children. Therefore, during training, it is important to let the child cooperate with every movement. When the children have difficulty concentrating, parents can use toys to divert their attention to various actions, but do not over-care; any actions that the children can complete by themselves, try to let them complete them by themselves.

4. The principle of constant repetition. Every time a child with cerebral palsy recovers a function, he or she has to pay a certain price, and each movement needs to be trained repeatedly before it can be finally consolidated. At the same time, only after a certain action is characterized can the training of the next action be carried out. When training, you should follow the principle of demonstration, waiting, encouragement, waiting again, and demonstration again. It is very difficult for the children to complete each movement, and the symptoms often relapse (for example, some children can walk a few steps independently, but after a few days they cannot walk a single step). Therefore, children must practice each function and each movement repeatedly to achieve ultimate recovery.

In the article, we learned about the treatment of cerebral palsy in children. The principle is that the child is unable to walk because of his or her incomplete brain development. Parents should give their children timely treatment to avoid delays in the disease.
