What to do if a child has blisters caused by burns

Burns and blisters in children are a major threat to children's life and health. Children nowadays live in an era of great material abundance, but this abundant material life requires parents to strive for it with all their strength, which makes it easy for parents to neglect taking care of their children. Especially when there are thermos or water heaters at home, children can easily get burns and blisters due to parental negligence. Let’s see what to do if children have burns and blisters.

When a baby gets scalded at home, parents will immediately become flustered and busy. At this time, if they know some common sense of daily treatment of burns, it will not only help the child's skin recovery after injury, but also reduce unnecessary chaos. Burns are divided into three degrees, and parents can make the following estimates based on the symptoms of the burns. For first degree burns, the child's skin will become red, swollen, and painful, but there will be no blisters. For second degree burns, there are two types: deep and shallow. Shallow second degree burns only damage the epidermis, causing redness, swelling, pain, and blisters on the skin. Deep second degree burns damage the dermis, cause local skin necrosis, and make the skin pale and dry. Third-degree burns spread to the subcutaneous tissue, causing the local skin to become black, hard, and lose elasticity. Different degrees of burns require different treatments. A general principle is to get the child away from the source of burns immediately, and then temporarily cover the wound with a clean cloth to prevent contamination. Do not use medicines indiscriminately to avoid wound contamination. For small-area mild burns, you can apply some Chinese or Western medicines. If the burn is on the face, simpler and more commonly used medicines include mercurochrome and Chinese medicine badger oil. If the burn is on various parts of the limbs, you can bandage it with Vaseline gauze. It usually takes 3-6 days to heal without leaving scars. If a child has a second-degree burn or above and edema appears on the skin, parents must not break the blisters to avoid bacterial infection. Instead, they should cover the wound with a clean cloth and send the child to the hospital immediately.

Burns are permanent and life-threatening for children. Many children have suffered from burns when they were young, and the scars will be carried for life. Therefore, parents should pay more attention to their children to prevent them from touching dangerous things (such as water bottles) out of curiosity and mischief, and keep children away from burns and blisters.
