1. High fever, with body temperature rising rapidly, at least above 38 degrees, usually 39 or 40 degrees.

2 Convulsions usually occur within 24 hours after the onset of fever, but fever may be detected only after convulsions.

3 Convulsions often occur when the fever rises rapidly, but they can also occur when the fever subsides.

4 Convulsions usually have the following manifestations:

1) Sudden loss of consciousness,

2) No response,

3) Dull eyes or eyes looking up (reverse white)

4) Lips turn dark (bluish purple)

5) Trismus

6) The hands and feet may twitch, become stiff, or the whole body may suddenly become limp and weak.

5 The duration of spasms can range from tens of seconds to tens of minutes, but most of the time it is less than ten minutes.
