Why is there tears in one eye of the baby?

Tearing is common among adults, and it is more likely to happen in the spring. You can take medication to relieve the symptoms of tearing, which will not have any effect on the body. But why does a baby shed tears in one eye? This is something many people don't know. There are reasons for this to happen to babies. Let's introduce it in detail below so that you can have some understanding of this problem.

What is the cause of tears in one eye of the baby?

1. Excessive tear secretion, which cannot flow into the nasopharyngeal cavity in time, such as when children are emotionally excited and crying. This kind of tearing is mostly physiological and short-lived.

2. Tear duct stenosis and tear duct obstruction may be caused by inflammation, trauma, or congenital tear duct stenosis and congenital tear duct occlusion. The tearing caused by the latter two causes is mostly persistent, often accompanied by other symptoms such as red eyes and fear of light;

3. Inflammatory infection of the eye or other eye diseases, common ones include dacryocystitis, conjunctivitis, keratitis, eye trauma (including excessive rubbing of the eyes, corneal abrasion), etc.

If you find your child tearing up or the skin below the inner corner of the eye is bulging, and if you press the area with your fingers and mucus or pus comes out, see a doctor as soon as possible. If your child is diagnosed with neonatal dacryocystitis, don't worry. The tear ducts of most babies are still in the development stage within 6 months, so conservative treatment should be adopted first. Generally, antibiotic eye drops are applied topically to the affected eye, and the skin at the corner of the eye (tear sac) is massaged to promote the flow of tears toward the nasolacrimal duct. This is done 2 to 3 times a day, and tear duct irrigation treatment is performed at the same time. If the above two treatment methods are ineffective, the tear duct probing can be used. The membrane can be punctured with a probe to make the tear duct unobstructed.

After understanding why one of the baby's eyes is tearing, you should choose the correct method to improve the tearing of one of the baby's eyes. It should also be noted that when alleviating the tearing of one of the baby's eyes, you should also take comprehensive care of the baby. The baby should not go outdoors at this time, otherwise it will not help improve the eye problem.
