What should I do if my child's skin is itchy?

I believe that parents with children at home will have such an experience. When the child goes out to play for a day, he often complains to his parents that his skin is itchy and he can't help scratching it. So what should parents do when their children have itchy skin?

1. Always keep your skin clean. Warm water is generally suitable for washing and bathing. Some children's bath gel and soap can be used appropriately to remove sebum, dust and dirt on the skin. It is best not to use soap for dry skin to avoid making the skin drier. Neutral and high-fat children's soaps are suitable. When bathing, pay special attention to the cleanliness of areas behind the ears, external auditory canal, neck, armpits, abdomen, etc.

2. Children's underwear, sheets, and diapers should be made of soft pure cotton. Wool underwear, silk, nylon, chemical fibers, etc. are prone to allergies, causing itching and even dermatitis. Underwear and bedding should not be washed with highly alkaline soaps and laundry detergents. After washing, wipe the skin clean with a towel and rinse the underwear several times to avoid skin irritation.

3. When cutting children’s hair, use their own scissors as much as possible to avoid the spread of diseases such as tinea capitis and impetigo. Wash and blow-dry your hair immediately after it sweats, because head lice are more likely to breed in a humid environment.

If children have itchy skin, they must go to a regular dermatology hospital for diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible, find out the cause of the disease, take symptomatic medication according to their symptoms and condition, and do daily care to avoid recurrence or aggravation of the disease, which will cause you greater pain.

Dry skin can also cause itching in children. As we age, the sebaceous glands gradually degenerate, often causing the skin's ability to retain moisture to decline. In mild cases, the skin becomes dry and flaky, while in severe cases, the skin may even crack and bleed, especially in the lower limbs.

Through the above introduction, everyone should know that when children have itchy skin, parents must avoid letting their children scratch it with their hands, because there may be a lot of bacteria remaining on the children's hands, and once scratched, these bacteria will invade the wound and cause infection.
