At what age do boys begin to have nocturnal emissions?

Nocturnal emission is something that happens to boys when they reach adolescence. We need to have a correct understanding of it. Some parents may worry about it, and some children may suffer psychological trauma. In fact, nocturnal emission is not a serious disease, but a normal physiological condition. Today I will share with you at what age boys begin to have nocturnal emission and how to prevent it.

Nocturnal emission rarely occurs in boys under 12 years old, but the incidence of nocturnal emission in boys aged 14 is about 25%. The incidence is higher in male adolescents in cities and those from families with better economic conditions. At the age of 16, it is about 55%, at the age of 18, it is 70%, at the age of 20, it is 75% to 80%, and by the age of 45, at least 90% of men have experienced nocturnal emission under some circumstances. The frequency of nocturnal emission is usually once a week or once every few weeks.

It should be pointed out that nocturnal emission is not menstruation, so there is no regularity to speak of. It is normal that you had nocturnal emission before but it has disappeared now. Especially for men who enter middle age, it almost no longer happens.

How to prevent it

1. Pay attention to mental conditioning and eliminate distracting thoughts;

2. Enrich cultural and sports activities and participate in physical labor or sports appropriately;

3. Pay attention to your daily life, control your sexual desire and quit masturbation;

4. Don’t eat too much for dinner, and don’t let the bedding be too thick or the underwear be too tight;

5. Eat less spicy and irritating foods such as tobacco, alcohol, coffee, etc.

I believe that it would be helpful for parents and boys to understand at what age boys start to have nocturnal emissions and how to prevent them. Moreover, as boys grow up, this type of nocturnal emission will basically disappear naturally. Correctly understanding and facing the problem of nocturnal emission will be beneficial to the growth and psychological development of adolescents.
