One year old child with diarrhea

One year old child with diarrhea

No matter what disease the baby has, it is very dangerous because the baby's resistance is relatively weak. During the treatment process, it is possible that another disease will occur before one disease is cured. Although diarrhea in babies may seem like a minor illness, it is generally a gastrointestinal problem, which will affect absorption. Parents, let’s learn about the reasons why babies have diarrhea.

1. To know the cause of your baby’s diarrhea, you should pay attention to the color, properties, and frequency of your baby’s stool.

1. Foamy stool. Eating too much starch or sugary food can increase the fermentation of food in the intestine, and the resulting stool will be dark brown, watery and foamy.

2. Smelly stool. When babies eat too much protein-rich food, the protein can neutralize the gastric acid in the stomach, thus reducing the acidity of the gastric juice and making it impossible for the protein to be fully digested and absorbed. Coupled with the decomposition and metabolism of bacteria in the intestinal cavity, the stools of these babies are often very smelly.

3. Shiny stools. When you eat too much fat, too much fatty acid will be produced in the intestinal cavity, which will stimulate the intestinal mucosa and increase intestinal peristalsis, resulting in light yellow liquid and larger stools. Sometimes the stools are shiny and can even slide in the toilet bowl.

2. Generally speaking, the main reasons for diarrhea in one-year-old babies are as follows.

1. Viral infection

First of all, you should carefully observe and record your baby's stool characteristics in detail. How many times a day does he or she defecate? If the stool is watery or egg drop soup-like, and the baby defecates 5, 6 or even 10 times a day, then it is abnormal and is mostly enteritis. If the stool contains mucus, pus and blood and has a fishy smell, then it is enteritis caused by bacterial infection. If there is no fishy smell and no mucus, pus and blood, then it is enteritis caused by a viral infection.

2. Improper diet

If the baby's diarrhea is caused by improper diet, it is just due to adverse stimulation such as suddenly eating too much cold food or the navel catching a cold, which will cause the intestinal peristalsis to speed up and cause the frequency of bowel movements to increase than usual. Bowel sounds can be heard when the baby's stomach is pressed close. The stool at this time is mostly green. If the baby suddenly eats too much meat or other indigestible food at one time, he will often have diarrhea accompanied by nausea and vomiting, and his appetite will be very poor.

3. Some antibiotics cause

The baby's gastrointestinal tract is not fully developed, the immune function is not perfect, and the regulatory functions of various body systems are relatively poor. Therefore, the baby is more susceptible to the influence of the external environment than adults, causing intestinal flora imbalance. After the baby uses antibiotics, the intestinal flora becomes disordered, which causes diarrhea.
