Is it okay to use air conditioning when the baby has a cold?

The weather in the dog days of summer is hot and humid, which makes people very uncomfortable, so air conditioning has naturally become a must-have "artifact" for people to cool down and prevent heatstroke! Although it is cool to use air conditioning, if the body suddenly enters an air-conditioned room, it cannot quickly adapt to such a comfortable environment, which will make the body feel uncomfortable; and staying in an air-conditioned room for a long time is not good for your health. So, is it okay for a baby to use air conditioning when he has a cold? Let’s take a look at the content of the article below.

7 things to note when using air conditioner for your baby:

1. Do not set the air conditioner temperature too low. 26℃ is appropriate. The temperature difference between indoor and outdoor should not be too large. It is best to be 3℃ to 5℃ lower than the outdoor temperature. In addition, the temperature is low at night, so the air conditioning temperature should be adjusted in time.

2. Moisturize at all times.

1) Use a humidifier.

2) Fill some containers with water and place them around the house.

3) Open windows frequently for ventilation. The humid air outside will regulate the humidity in the room.

3. Children have delicate skin and sweat a lot, so the materials used for their clothing should be soft, moisture-absorbent, breathable and easy to wash. Light-colored pure cotton or pure knitwear are preferred. In an air-conditioned room, babies should wear one more piece of clothing than adults.

4. Ventilate the room every 6 to 8 hours when the air conditioner is turned on, and the longest time should not exceed 12 hours, and each time the air should be ventilated for 20 to 30 minutes. Especially when the air conditioner is turned on in the evening until going to bed at night, the air should be changed once before going to bed. A small window can be opened in the air-conditioned room to facilitate air exchange. If you don’t want to turn off the air conditioner when ventilating, you can adjust the air conditioner cooling temperature to the highest. Adults should avoid smoking indoors. If your baby has allergies or respiratory problems, you can install an air purifier indoors to improve the air quality.

5. Cover your baby with a quilt when he/she goes to bed at night. Don’t cover the quilt too thickly, and cover sensitive parts such as the stomach, chest, shoulders, and joints. If your child has the habit of kicking off the quilt, you can make a sleeping bag for him using a bed sheet. Use a bed cover with specifications of 2m×1.5m, fold the long side in half, that is, 1m×1.5m; leave an opening at the head and sew zippers on both sides.

Is it okay for my baby to use air conditioning when he has a cold? I believe you already have some understanding. Since children's body temperature regulation center and sweat glands are not fully developed, their ability to regulate the temperature difference between inside and outside is not yet fully developed, so they need a gradual adaptation process. When you turn off the air conditioner one hour before your child wakes up, the indoor temperature can gradually become consistent with the outdoor temperature. When your child gets up, the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor will not be that big, which can effectively prevent your child from suffering from various respiratory diseases.
