What to do if your child has blisters on his feet

If blisters grow on the soles of children's feet, it may be caused by athlete's foot or infection with hand, foot and mouth virus. It is best to go to the hospital for relevant examinations. If it is athlete's foot, it is generally caused by fungal infection. Parents need to give their children timely treatment, otherwise it will cause the athlete's foot to become more and more serious. Hand, foot and mouth disease must be taken seriously. The sooner the treatment, the better. Pay more attention to hygiene and eat less spicy and irritating foods.

Causes of blisters on children's feet

1. Eczema

It can appear on the child's head, cheeks, external ears, and even spread over the entire face and neck. In severe cases, it can be seen on the hands, feet, chest and abdomen. Erythema, rice-grain-like papules, blisters, erosions, exudate and crusts appear on the skin surface. The inflammatory reaction is obvious, and the local skin has a burning and itching sensation.

2. Local compression

If it is just a transparent blister, it can generally be considered as local compression. Pay attention to observation and use topical Qumixin ointment for symptomatic treatment. Pay attention to the child's nutritional supplements and local care.

3. Blister-type athlete's foot

The pathogenic bacteria of vesicular athlete's foot are mainly Trichophyton rubrum, followed by Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton tonsurans and Epidermophyton floccosum. The incidence of vesicular athlete's foot is related to factors such as the environment and season, and is particularly common in humid and hot areas and high temperature seasons; vesicular athlete's foot is related to some specific groups of people or occupations, and the susceptible groups include athletes, coal miners, soldiers, diabetics and AIDS patients, etc. It is related to factors such as excessive sweating of the feet, wearing tight shoes or impaired immune function; vesicular athlete's foot is familial and contagious, and can be transmitted by contact with items used by patients in public places such as swimming pools and baths or at home.

What to do if your child has blisters on the soles of his feet

1. Keep it clean

Most babies with athlete's foot and blisters have fungus growing on their feet, so keeping their feet clean is the most basic thing. At the same time, you should wear less non-breathable shoes in summer, change your socks frequently, keep the spaces between your toes dry, and add some toilet paper between your toes to absorb water.

2. Puncture large blisters

Larger blisters can drain the fluid accumulated in the affected area to relieve the pressure caused by the blisters. The standard approach is: first clean the affected area with disinfectant alcohol, then use a sterilized steel needle to pierce a small hole at the edge of the blister, and gently squeeze out the liquid in the blister. Then apply disinfectant. Finally, cover the wound with tape or dressing.

3. Seek medical treatment

If the child's blisters are accompanied by severe itching, it is suspected to be a fungal infection or eczema, and antifungal or antipruritic drugs should be used under the guidance of a doctor. If the skin around the blisters becomes red and swollen or the blisters become pus-filled, it means that the skin at the blister site has been infected and the child should be taken to the hospital for treatment immediately. Do not break the epidermis of the blister, as this will not only increase the pain but also increase the risk of infection.
