Reasons for less stool in babies

Reasons for less stool in babies

In fact, in daily life, babies’ resistance is relatively poor, so we must pay attention to their hygiene, otherwise it will lead to bacterial invasion and even cause the baby to have less stool. So let us now understand the reasons why babies have less stool.

1. Common causes of constipation in children

1. Most parents do not guide their children's bowel movements properly, such as forcing them to have bowel movements, which gradually leads to "psychological constipation". Over time, children not only fail to get the pleasure of defecation, but instead become disgusted with defecation, so that when the rectum is filled with feces, it no longer triggers the defecation reflex, forming "habitual constipation."

2. Improper diet can also cause constipation, such as eating too much fish and eggs and lacking intake of grains, vegetables and other foods.

3. Children have an irregular lifestyle and do not have the habit of regular living and bowel movements.

4. Some pathological conditions, such as congenital megacolon, congenital anal stenosis, hypothyroidism, etc., are factors that cause constipation in children.

2. Prevent and treat constipation in children

1. One thing that should be noted is the correct guidance of parents, sending signals before the baby has a bowel movement, and basically fixing the time every day, so that the baby can gradually get used to having bowel movements on time; if the child does not have a bowel movement, do not force it, and certainly do not force the child to squat on the potty for a long time.

2. In terms of diet, some refined foods, vegetables, sweet potatoes, fruits, etc. should be given appropriately.

3. For children who often suffer from constipation, in addition to training their bowel habits, they can also be given some drugs that promote intestinal peristalsis and lubricate the intestines, such as oral fruit laxative tablets, phenolphthalein, etc. For more serious habitual constipation, you can use equal amounts of Trichosanthes seed, Prunus mume seed, and hemp seed, mix them into pills with honey, each pill is 3 grams, and take 1-2 pills per day.

4. People with stubborn constipation or constipation caused by Hirschsprung's disease should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment.

The above article introduces in detail some of the reasons why babies have less bowel movements. I believe everyone has a preliminary understanding of it. Therefore, in daily life, if such a situation occurs, pay attention to drinking more water and adjust their eating habits.
