The general incidence of hernia in children is 1-4%. The incidence in males is 14 times that in females and is even higher in premature infants. It may occur on both sides.

As children grow older, their activity level increases, and their abdominal pressure increases, hernias may recur.

How to treat intestinal hernia in children? Treatments for hernia in children include conservative treatment and radical treatment.

1. Conservative treatment

Conservative treatment mainly includes two types: drug therapy and hernia belt therapy.

1. Drug therapy: It can relieve the symptoms such as abdominal distension, abdominal pain, constipation, etc. caused by hernia, thereby reducing the hernia; the disadvantage is that it cannot control the hernia prolapse, let alone cure hernia. Commonly used Chinese patent medicines include Hernia Neixiao Pills, Juhe Pills, Buzhong Yiqi Pills, etc.; or grind cinnamon into powder and mix with vinegar, wrap it with gauze and apply it to the navel, etc.

2. Hernia belt therapy

It can quickly stop the bulge of the hernia, thereby effectively preventing the development of the hernia and relieving symptoms such as abdominal distension, abdominal pain, and constipation caused by the hernia; the disadvantage is that it is inconvenient to use and cannot cure hernia.

2. Root Treatment

There are four types of radical treatments: hernia repair, hernia patch repair, hernia laparoscopic repair and hernia medical glue injection anastomosis.

1. Hernia repair: Repair the hernia ring by stripping off part of the external oblique muscle.

2. Hernia patch repair: Use a patch material to replace part of the external oblique muscle to repair the hernia ring.

3. Laparoscopic hernia repair: Hernia repair or hernia patch repair is completed through laparoscopy.

4. Medical glue injection anastomosis: An anastomotic agent that is similar to and fully compatible with human tissue is directly injected into the hernia canal to close the hernia canal and the hernia ring opening, achieving the same effect as repairing the hernia ring opening by stripping part of the external oblique muscle or repairing the hernia ring opening with patch material.
