Asymmetric baby hip lines

Asymmetric baby hip lines

I believe everyone knows a situation, especially mothers with children at home, who will find that the baby's buttocks are asymmetrical, and many mothers will worry about this problem. Careful people will also find that there are many reasons for asymmetrical baby buttocks lines. So what are the symptoms of asymmetric buttock lines in babies? Let’s discuss it together.

Asymmetric buttock lines are one of the early signs of abnormal hip development in infants and young children. Similar signs include tight leg separation, unequal leg lengths, etc. These signals often indicate that the baby may have early hip developmental abnormalities and require further examination by a specialist to determine whether this disease exists.

The medical name of this disease is "developmental dysplasia of the hip", abbreviated as DDH in English. This name is a general term for congenital or developmental structural abnormalities of the hip joint in infants and children, including hip dysplasia, hip subluxation and hip dislocation.

Asymmetrical leg lines may indicate hip dislocation or developmental dysplasia. Of course, mothers, don’t worry too much, as most children will have normal results after the final examination. If there is really a problem at that time, you can go to the hospital for correction.

A normal person has a hip joint between the femur and pelvis. The femoral head moves within the hip joint, making the walking posture casual and natural, and the thigh flexion and extension very flexible. When the hip is dislocated, the femoral head cannot remain in the joint normally and slides to the back and upper part of the joint, losing its normal flexion and extension function. Due to the different degrees of dislocation, congenital hip dislocation can be divided into: 1. complete dislocation; 2. subluxation; 3. early dislocation, which is mainly manifested by the tilted acetabular top, and complete dislocation or subluxation can occur at any time. Congenital hip dislocation may occur bilaterally or unilaterally.

Bilateral dislocation causes the child to sway from side to side when walking, much like a duck. In unilateral dislocation, the femoral head on the dislocated side slides to the posterior and superior position, and the hip will tilt toward the dislocated side when walking.

The cause of congenital hip dislocation is not fully understood. According to relevant data, 16% to 30% occur in breech births, some are due to relaxation of the ligaments around the hip joint or contracture of the hip and waist muscles, and some people believe that it is related to acetabular dysplasia. This disease is generally more common in girls than in boys, more common on one side than on both sides, and more common on the left side than on the right side, and there is often a family history.

Sometimes the symptoms of "congenital hip dislocation" are not true dislocation, but hip dysplasia, which looks like "dislocation", which is called developmental hip. This condition may heal itself as the child grows and develops.

Through the introduction in the above article, I believe everyone has a general understanding of the asymmetry of baby's buttocks lines, right? This kind of asymmetric baby buttocks lines is quite common in our lives. If you encounter this situation, don’t panic too much, some of them can be adjusted. If the situation is serious, it is recommended to go to the hospital for examination and treatment.
