What causes abdominal pain and vomiting in children?

Children's bodies are fragile and their resistance is not very high. They can be easily invaded by bacteria and viruses. Your children may have experienced abdominal pain and vomiting in normal times. Many parents are very anxious, but they don't know what caused it. When such a phenomenon occurs, everyone should find the cause in time. This has a very complicated cause. Let's take a look at what conditions can cause abdominal pain and vomiting in children.

Causes of Abdominal Pain

(1) Pediatric internal medicine diseases. 1. Intra-abdominal diseases: acute gastritis, gastroenteritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, intestinal spasmodic colic, intestinal and biliary ascariasis, mesenteric lymphadenitis, acute necrosis

Enteritis, viral hepatitis, congenital common bile duct cyst, various pancreatitis, various peritonitis, liver abscess, subphrenic abscess, urinary tract infection, bacterial dysentery, etc.

2. Extra-abdominal diseases: respiratory diseases (upper respiratory tract infection, tonsillitis, lobar pneumonia, acute pleurisy), cardiovascular diseases (acute heart failure, pericarditis, myocarditis), allergic diseases (allergic purpura, urticaria, asthma), nervous system diseases (intercostal neuralgia, abdominal epilepsy), metabolic diseases (hypoglycemia, uremia, porphyria), infectious diseases (typhoid fever, epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis) as well as sepsis, herpes zoster, lead poisoning, etc.

(B) Pediatric surgical diseases.

Acute appendicitis, gastric and duodenal ulcers with perforation, mechanical intestinal obstruction, intussusception, mesenteric artery embolism, acute intestinal torsion, ileal diverticulitis with perforation, obstruction, primary or secondary peritonitis, incarcerated inguinal hernia, urinary tract stones, hydronephrosis, liver rupture, spleen rupture, ovarian cyst torsion, testicular pedicle torsion, iliac fossa abscess, etc.

Vomiting is caused by reverse peristalsis of the esophagus, stomach or intestines, accompanied by strong spasmodic contraction of the abdominal muscles, forcing the contents of the esophagus or stomach to flow out of the mouth and nasal cavity. It can be divided into:

1. Organic obstruction of the digestive tract: The downward movement of the contents of the esophagus, stomach or intestine is blocked, and they are forced to go backwards, resulting in vomiting. Such as congenital malformation of the digestive tract (occlusion or stenosis of different parts); for older children, it is mostly acquired intestinal torsion, intussusception, intestinal obstruction (such as common ascaris obstruction).

2. Digestive tract infectious diseases: enteritis, gastritis, appendicitis due to inflammation of the stomach and intestines can be irritated, can be reflex vomiting, often accompanied by abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal distension.

3. Abnormal body function: If systemic infection or metabolic disorder occurs, it is often accompanied by fever, loss of appetite, nausea, abdominal distension and other poisoning symptoms.

4. Diseases of the cranial nervous system: Symptoms of intracranial hypertension, meningeal irritation or intracranial space-occupying lesions can cause central jet vomiting. There is no nausea before vomiting, but it is accompanied by other neurological symptoms such as headache, drowsiness, coma, convulsions, etc.

5. Poisoning: vomiting caused by local irritation of the gastrointestinal tract and the effect of the poison on the central nervous system.

What situations can cause abdominal pain and vomiting in children? Now everyone should know. It is useless to be anxious or afraid about such situations. It is important to go to the hospital in time. Parents should take more care of their children's diet and daily life to avoid similar situations.
