Why is the baby's ear discharge yellow water?

After the baby is born, if there are any abnormal symptoms, we parents will be very worried, and there may be abnormal conditions on the child's reproductive organs. Some children often have a phenomenon of yellow water flowing from the ears. It is abnormal for the baby to have yellow water flowing from the ears. When this happens, it is necessary to solve the problem for the child in time. When solving it, we must pay attention to the methods and must be reasonable. Let's take a look at what is going on with the baby's yellow water flowing from the ears:

You may consider otitis media. Generally, it is not convenient for children this young to go to the hospital for examination. If there is secretion in the ear, it is recommended to give intravenous anti-inflammatory therapy. The main reason is that the child is too young, so you can also observe.

Otitis media is a common cause of ear pain in babies. Babies often feel throbbing or tingling in their ears, and the ear pain will worsen when sucking, swallowing, and coughing. Older babies will complain about earache, but infants and young children, who cannot express their thoughts, often show symptoms such as irritability, crying, restless sleep, shaking their heads, or rubbing their ears with their hands. Because ear pain is aggravated by sucking and swallowing, babies with otitis media often refuse to breastfeed.

Experts point out that this is mainly related to the anatomical characteristics of the baby's ear. Compared with adults, the baby's Eustachian tube is horizontal and wider, straighter and shorter. Therefore, when the baby suffers from an upper respiratory tract infection, bacteria or viruses in the nasopharynx can easily invade the middle ear through the Eustachian tube, causing acute suppurative otitis media. Babies with otitis media often have symptoms such as fever, chills, vomiting and diarrhea.

Experts warn that if a child refuses to breastfeed, cries at night, rubs one ear, has partial hearing loss, or has discharge in the ear, you should consider whether it is otitis media. It should be pointed out in particular that if the fluid in the ear remains for 3 months, the child may lose some hearing. Therefore, whether it is acute or chronic otitis media, parents should take their babies for active treatment without delay.

65% of babies will suffer from otitis or other hearing organ diseases at least once in the first year after birth. If the infected baby does not receive timely treatment, it may cause hearing loss or even life-threatening. In addition, if your baby suffers from repeated acute otitis media, it may be related to abnormal immune function. It is best to go to a regular otolaryngology department for diagnosis. Generally speaking, after the infection of baby's otitis media is completely controlled and the inflammation completely subsides, the perforated eardrum can heal naturally. Even if some cannot heal naturally, they can be repaired through surgery.

What needs special attention is that many parents still use folk remedies to treat otitis media, that is, grinding certain Chinese medicines or tablets into powder and blowing them into the ears, which is very dangerous. If the drug powder blocks the perforation of the eardrum, the pus in the inner ear tympanic cavity will not be drained smoothly, and long-term stimulation and corrosion of the eardrum may cause the inflammation to spread to the surrounding tissues. In severe cases, pus can spread into the skull, causing complications such as epidural abscess, purulent meningitis, and brain abscess. Extracranial complications such as postauricular subperiosteal abscess, labyrinthitis and peripheral facial palsy can be life-threatening.

There are many reasons why yellow water flows out of children's ears, and yellow water flowing out of the ears will have a great impact on children's hearing. It is recommended to give children timely treatment to improve these sequelae. When yellow water flows out of children's ears, they need to be cleaned with a clean cotton swab to avoid infection. Usually, children's ears must be kept dry to avoid water entering.
