How to care for children with conjunctivitis?

Eye diseases have a very big impact and cause fatal damage to people's sensory abilities. In particular, conjunctivitis is the most popular symptom of eye diseases. Conjunctivitis can cause great damage to the body. Children with conjunctivitis often suffer from it for a long time, causing impaired vision, etc. Let's take a look at how to care for children with conjunctivitis.

1. Rinse the eyes : When there is a lot of secretion in the affected eye, rinse the eyes with saline. Before rinsing, wipe away secretions on the eyelid margin with a sterile cotton swab. The temperature of the irrigation water should be close to room temperature so that it can make the affected eye comfortable.

2. Avoid light : You should rest in a dimly lit room to avoid discomfort caused by strong light stimulation. If you need to go out, you can wear sunglasses to block out the sun.

3. Avoid infecting others : Face washers, handkerchiefs and other items used by patients should be disinfected. Families can use boiling disinfection method. Do not share face towels and washbasins with others to avoid infecting others. Because eye secretions are highly contagious through contact, it is best not to go out when there is a lot of secretion. Try not to go to public places such as swimming pools, theaters, shops, etc. to avoid infecting others.

4. Do not cover the affected eye : Do not cover the affected eye with dressings, towels, etc. Because covering the eye prevents eye secretions from being discharged and at the same time increases the local temperature and humidity of the eye, it is conducive to the reproduction of bacteria or viruses and aggravates the condition. Before applying eye drops each time, the eye secretions must be wiped clean to improve the efficacy.

5. Avoid rubbing your eyes with your hands : Acute conjunctivitis causes conjunctival congestion, itching and pain. At this time, avoid rubbing your eyes with your hands. Rubbing your eyes can easily allow viruses or bacteria on your hands to enter your eyes and aggravate the infection.

6. Avoid swimming : If patients with acute conjunctivitis swim in a swimming pool, they can not only transmit bacteria and viruses to others, but also aggravate their own condition because there are bacteria and viruses in the swimming pool water, which can cause repeated infection. In areas where pinkeye outbreaks are prevalent, swimming pools should be closed.
