How to treat whooping cough

How to treat whooping cough

Whooping cough is usually a disease that children suffer from. Adults should not take it lightly because the disease is contagious, so adults should take it seriously. Parents should take their children to the hospital for a comprehensive examination in time if they have whooping cough. Children usually have symptoms such as excessive sputum, thick sputum, or bronchitis, allergies, pneumonia, etc. There are many ways to treat whooping cough, including traditional Chinese medicine massage, and Western medicine such as erythromycin, sulfonamides, anti-inflammatory drugs, etc.

Whooping cough is also a disease that is very difficult to cure, so parents should try to use some Chinese medicine without side effects for their babies. Sichuan Fritillary Bulbs, Licorice, Chrysanthemum, etc. are generally used to resolve phlegm and lower qi. Mulberry bark, almond, Pinellia tuber and tangerine peel are often used to treat phlegm-heat blocking the lungs. In the recovery period, ginseng, osmanthus fragrans, Ophiopogon japonicus, etc. are often used.

Whooping cough is a common respiratory infectious disease in children, which is transmitted by Bordetella pertussis. The main feature is paroxysmal spasmodic cough accompanied by cock-crowing inspiratory sounds. If not treated properly, complications such as pneumonia and encephalopathy may often occur. In addition, whooping cough has a long course and can last for more than 2-3 months, so it has a great impact on children's health. Therefore, once a child is found to have whooping cough, treatment should be started as soon as possible. Antibiotics should be used as early as possible for children with whooping cough to eliminate Bordetella pertussis in the nasopharynx. For example, erythromycin can be taken at a dose of 50-100 mg per kilogram of body weight per day, divided into two intramuscular injections. Co-trimoxazole or enhanced sulfamethoxazole tablets can also be used as appropriate, half a tablet each time, twice a day. The above antibiotics should be used continuously for 7-10 days. If a certain antibiotic does not work after 5 days, you can switch to another one. Using two antibiotics at the same time will not improve the efficacy, so it is better to use them alone. During the use of antibiotics, parents should pay attention to observe in order to detect adverse reactions early. According to a French medical journal, when spasmodic cough cannot be controlled by other drugs, vitamin K can be used to achieve good therapeutic effects. Although its theoretical basis is unclear, the therapeutic effect is quite obvious. Usage: Children under one year old should be given 20 mg intramuscularly daily.

The air you breathe in contains germs and is created when a sick person sneezes, coughs or talks. Bordetella pertussis belongs to the genus Bordetella. It invades the respiratory mucosa and reproduces in the ciliated epithelium, causing cilia paralysis, epithelial cell necrosis, necrotic epithelium, inflammatory exudates and mucus clearance obstacles, accumulation and retention, and constant stimulation of nerve endings, leading to spasmodic cough. Bronchial obstruction can also cause atelectasis or emphysema.

If you find that your baby has any disease, you should go to the hospital for examination in time to avoid delaying early detection and early treatment of the disease. Generally, the infection is caused by air droplets, so it is very important for the baby's diet to be nutritionally diverse and enhance its own immunity.
