What to do if your child has precocious puberty

Many parents may not know much about precocious puberty in their children, which will affect their children's future lives. I hope you can learn more about it. Precocious puberty in children mainly refers to eight-year-old boys growing Adam's apples and beards, and girls developing breasts and menstruating. For this phenomenon, our parents should send their children to the hospital for treatment in time.

If boys and girls show secondary characteristics before the age of ten, we hope that parents should know how to deal with it in life so as to reduce the harm to the children. We hope that you can learn more about the treatment of children's precocious puberty in life.

It is generally believed that precocious puberty can be diagnosed if a girl shows sexual characteristics before the age of 8, a boy shows sexual characteristics before the age of 9, or a girl shows menstruation before the age of 10. Girls: accelerated height growth and pelvic development; breast enlargement, nodules, swelling and pain, and pigmentation of the areola; pigmentation of the labia majora and armpits and the appearance of long, lighter-pigmented hair; increased vaginal discharge, genital pain and itching; increased subcutaneous fat. Boys: Height growth accelerates and Adam's apple appears; testicles and scrotum enlarge and color; long, thin, light-colored hair appears in the armpits, upper lip, and pubic area; areola color and enlarge. When the above characteristics appear, parents should pay attention and take their children to see a growth and development doctor in time for examination and treatment.

Large doses of sex hormones are used to feedback inhibit the secretion of hypothalamic-pituitary gonadotropin. For example, medroxyprogesterone acetate, also known as medroxyprogesterone acetate, is a progesterone derivative used for precocious puberty in girls. The daily oral dose is 10-30 mg, and the dose is reduced to maintain after the effect appears. Cyproterone acetate is a 17-hydroxyprogesterone derivative that can not only block sex hormone receptors, but also reduce the release of gonadotropin. The daily dose is 70-150 mg/m2. The above two drugs cannot improve adult height.

If a child shows signs of precocious puberty, parents must dispel their concerns, analyze the cause, explain patiently, and not put mental pressure on the child. At the same time, parents must actively cooperate with doctors and conduct careful examinations and treatments. Then, children with precocious puberty can still develop normally and it will not affect their future marriage and childbearing.

Based on the article’s introduction to the treatment methods for children’s precocious puberty, we suggest that everyone treat it correctly in life and not put too much pressure on children. Children's precocious puberty is mainly due to the influence of hormones, so we should eat some hormone-lowering foods or take some medicines in our lives to treat it.
