Precautions for babies to eat sugar pills

The sugar pills we are talking about here are not real sugar pills, but specifically refer to live polio vaccine sugar pills, which are the most effective way to prevent polio. Our country has long adopted this method to free people from the trouble of polio. Start taking the first sugar pill when your baby is 2 months old. Take it three times in a row, with an interval of more than 28 days between each dose.

When the baby is 1.5 to 2 years old, take the medicine once more. When the baby is 4 years old, you can take it again if necessary depending on the situation. So what should you pay attention to every time your baby takes a sugar pill? First of all, it is best to take the sugar pill half an hour to an hour before the baby feeds breast milk and on an empty stomach, or take the sugar pill two hours after feeding breast milk.

This is because breast milk contains antibodies that fight the virus, which would render the sugar pill inactive. When feeding sugar pills to children, parents should not take them directly with their hands. It is best to use a sterilized spoon and melt the sugar pill in warm water in the spoon before feeding it to the child. This is to prevent the baby from accidentally inhaling the sugar pill into the trachea when he is too young. Also, do not use hot water to make the sugar pills.

Because if the live vaccine is taken with hot water, it will lose its activity due to the high temperature and will not have any effect on the baby. The sugar pill will not produce antibodies in the child's body. If the baby has fever, diarrhea or is infected with some acute disease a week before taking the sugar pills, the medication should be stopped. The sugar pills can be stored in the refrigerator at 2 to 10 degrees Celsius for 5 months.

When the child is older, you can put the sugar pill directly in his mouth, chew it into pieces and swallow it, and then drink some cold boiled water or sugar water. This is to ensure that the medicine enters the baby's stomach so that the medicine can work normally. Children who are allergic to milk should not take sugar pills directly. They can take liquid vaccines instead. Babies with immunodeficiency should not take sugar pills either.
