Rotavirus enteritis.

Rotavirus enteritis.

Children are angels in every mother's heart. Once they fall sick, mothers are always extremely worried. Especially now that summer is here, it is the peak season for infant and young child diseases, which makes many mothers very worried. Rotavirus enteritis is a common intestinal disease in infants and young children, and is more common in infants and young children aged 6 months to 2 years. Its appearance can cause infants and young children to suffer from diarrhea, respiratory tract infections, fever and other symptoms, causing serious harm to the children and making mothers feel distressed.

Many parents have reported that infants and young children suffering from rotavirus enteritis not only have fever and vomiting, but also become listless and weak, which is very distressing to watch. According to experts, this is because the children often vomit and have diarrhea, which causes them to become dehydrated. Parents are advised to actively carry out anti-infection and fluid rehydration treatments.

Many parents don't understand why their children who normally eat well get rotavirus enteritis. Let's learn about the causes of rotavirus enteritis.

Viral infection: Whether rotavirus can cause disease after entering the body depends on the number of infected viruses. A large amount of invading virus facilitates viral invasion. After rotavirus enters the body, it causes diarrhea through two pathways: first, rotavirus directly damages the villus epithelial cells of the small intestine, causing pathological changes; second, the metabolites of rotavirus during the replication process act on the endothelial cells of the small intestine, destroying the normal physiological functions of the intestinal cells and causing diarrhea. A small amount of the virus will be eliminated by the body's own immunity and will not cause disease.

Physiological factors: The body's own physiological characteristics can lead to the occurrence of the disease. When the content of lactase (a rotavirus receptor) in the intestinal epithelial brush border is high, such as in infancy, it is easy to be infected with rotavirus. As we age, the amount of this enzyme decreases and susceptibility decreases.

Low immunity: When immunity is reduced due to various reasons, it helps rotavirus invade and induce disease.

The above is an introduction to the causes of rotavirus enteritis. I hope it can help everyone. If a child suffers from rotavirus enteritis, mothers do not need to worry too much. Once symptoms appear, treatment should be actively sought. Generally, it takes about a week for rotavirus enteritis to develop and heal. During the illness, fluid replacement therapy must be performed to prevent severe dehydration.
