How to treat children's astigmatism and amblyopia_How to treat children's amblyopia and astigmatism

Nowadays, many parents always feel that their children are very noisy, and often let their children carry mobile phones and iPads with them, thinking that this will allow the children to be quiet for a while and they can be busy with other things. However, over time, this will form dependence and habits, forcing children to become obsessed with these electronic devices. Excessive obsession will cause children to have problems with amblyopia and astigmatism. What should we do?

What to do if your child has amblyopia and astigmatism

Amblyopia is a common eye disease in children in ophthalmology clinic. Amblyopia refers to the condition in which the corrected visual acuity does not reach normal (below 0.9) even though there is no organic lesion inside or outside the eye. Amblyopia is closely related to strabismus. Monocular deviation can cause amblyopia in that eye, and amblyopia can cause strabismus. In addition to ophthalmic diagnosis, treatment and prevention, research on amblyopia also involves related disciplines such as physiology, physics, and psychology.

The visual acuity boundary between amblyopic eyes and normal eyes is not very clear. Some patients complain of decreased vision, but objective examinations show that their visual acuity is still 1.0 or 1.2. This may be because the patient feels that his vision has decreased compared to his previous vision. In addition, there may be certain obstructions in the visual cells in the fovea or the conduction system behind them, resulting in a very small central dark spot and conscious visual impairment, which cannot be detected objectively.

Astigmatic amblyopia, also known as astigmatic amblyopia, is a type of amblyopia.

definition

Astigmatism is manifested by the black pupil (mainly the cornea) being oval shaped like an egg. The more oval it is, the higher the degree of astigmatism. Astigmatism of more than 100 can cause amblyopia.

Treatment principles

Treatment principles for astigmatism and amblyopia

Astigmatism Hazards

1. It can cause and aggravate myopia.

2. Cause amblyopia. Astigmatism above 100 can cause amblyopia. The higher the astigmatism, the more severe the amblyopia.

3. Cause the person to tilt his head, squint, or look at an angle.

Treatment

1. Wear astigmatism glasses: You should wear glasses if your astigmatism is above 75 degrees and wear them all day long. Hyperopic astigmatism of 100 degrees should be worn for 1 year, 200 degrees should be worn for 2 years, and so on. People with myopia, astigmatism, and mixed astigmatism can stop wearing glasses when their myopia does not progress much until they are 9 to 10 years old.

2. Amblyopia treatment: Use the first generation or non-light brush device for 100 degrees, the second generation for 200 degrees, and so on. The higher the vision of astigmatism and amblyopia is cured, the better the naked eye vision after taking off glasses, and the greater the chance of removing glasses.

3. Myopia-astigmatism control device: (eyeball expansion resonance mirror)

Visual Relationship

100 degrees drops 1 row, 200 degrees drops 2 rows, and so on. If there is 300 degrees of astigmatism (when amblyopia is cured), you can see more than 0.9 (1.5 minus 3 rows) without wearing glasses.

Wearing time

1. Wearing it all day, wearing it sometimes and not wearing it sometimes, or peeking over the top of the glasses will not work.

2. Hyperopic astigmatism of 100 degrees should be worn for 1 year, 200 degrees should be worn for 2 years, and so on.

3. Myopic or mixed astigmatism

Characteristics: It is easy to become myopic and myopia needs to be prevented.

(1) Children should wear glasses until they are over 9 years old. After that, they should only be worn when looking at the blackboard or watching TV. They do not need to be worn at other times.

(2) Using the eyeball expansion resonator:

a. It can reduce the eyelid flattening of the cornea and promote the cornea to become round, thereby alleviating astigmatism;

b. It can relax the ciliary muscles, promote the shortening of the eye axis, and slow down the progression of myopia.
