Child sleeping with mouth open

Child sleeping with mouth open

If a child opens his mouth when sleeping, this bad habit should be corrected from an early age. Sleeping with the mouth open for a long time will cause many bad effects. The most important one is that it will affect the normal development of the inside of the oral cavity and cause some changes in the shape of the face. Parents should also closely observe their baby's breathing. Once breathing difficulties occur, they should adjust their sleeping position.

Sleeping patterns

Rocking to sleep When the baby cries or has trouble sleeping, some young mothers hold the baby in their arms or rock the baby in a cradle until the baby falls asleep. Little do people know that the shaking action will cause the baby's brain to swing constantly in the skull cavity, causing small blood vessels in the brain to rupture, causing "mild concussion syndrome", concussion and intracranial hemorrhage. This method is especially not suitable for babies under 10 months old.

Some mothers like to sleep with their babies. If things go on like this for a long time, it will not only make the baby develop a "mother complex", form a dependent mentality, lack the ability to be independent, but also make the baby still need the mother to sleep with him even when he goes to school. If the mother has a bad sleeping posture and tosses and turns in bed after falling asleep, accidentally pressing on the baby's face, it may cause the "tragedy" of suffocation and death of the baby.

These two sleeping positions, prone sleeping, can easily block the baby's mouth and nose, causing breathing difficulties and leading to sudden death.

Some mothers like to cuddle their babies to sleep out of maternal love. The health hazards of this practice include:

1. It is difficult for the baby to breathe fresh air when sleeping with the baby in arms, and the baby mostly breathes in the dirty air in the quilt;

2. It limits the baby's free movement during sleep, making it difficult for the baby to stretch his body and affecting normal blood circulation;

When the temperature is high in summer, some mothers let their babies lie naked in bed to keep cool. Babies have poor temperature regulation function and are prone to catching cold, especially the abdomen. Once the cold is caught in the abdomen, the intestinal motility will be enhanced, leading to diarrhea.

Electric blankets heat up very quickly. Too high a temperature can cause the baby to lose water in the body and become dehydrated, causing the baby to become irritable and cry constantly, which can harm their health. It is even more undesirable to let your baby sleep on an electric blanket that is heated all night.

Infants and young children have poor ability to adapt to the environment when sleeping with the lights on. If the lights are on at night, the baby's sleep time will be shortened, affecting the secretion of growth hormone, and growth and development will also be inhibited. In addition, 30% of children who sleep with a low light on in their room become myopic, while the incidence of myopia among children whose rooms are brightly lit is as high as 55%.

If you sleep with the nipple in your mouth, your baby will suck on the nipple when he wakes up. This irregular eating habit can easily cause gastrointestinal disorders and indigestion in babies. Furthermore, if the mother sleeps too soundly and the nipple accidentally blocks the baby's nostrils, it may even cause serious consequences such as suffocation.
