Six-year-old speaks indistinctly

Six-year-old speaks indistinctly

Every baby is a little angel of the family. The baby's health is related to the happiness of the whole family. Every parent hopes that their baby can speak clearly, articulate clearly, and speak wittily. But if the baby is six years old and still speaks inarticulately, it needs to attract the attention of parents. If the child still speaks inarticulately under correct guidance, he needs to go to the hospital for examination. So today, let's take a look with the editor at what to do if a six-year-old speaks inarticulately.

Influencing factors

1. The impact of normal development of auditory and speech organs on children's hearing and speech. Whether the child's oral structure and soft palate development are normal; whether the child's frenulum is adhered, etc., will cause obstacles to the child's speech development.

2. It is related to parents’ genes. If there is a case of late opening of the mouth in a family, the possibility of late opening of the offspring is greater. Some people speak late for no reason, but they will speak when the time comes. Such people are extremely rare among children who start talking late.

Generally, it is acceptable for a child to not speak clearly when he is three or four years old. However, if a six-year-old child still does not speak clearly, the following situations should be considered:

1. Please rule out whether the frenulum of the tongue is too short. If so, please ask the ENT department to perform a frenulum resection.

2. To rule out the problem of poor hearing, it is better to ask an ENT doctor to check your hearing.

3. Eliminate the situation where there are too many dialects in the family. In such an environment, children will not know whose language to learn.

4. After excluding the above situations, please rule out brain maldevelopment. If the child has an abnormal birth history such as asphyxia, intrauterine distress, umbilical cord around the neck, turbid amniotic fluid, etc., then it should be ruled out even more. A head CT scan can be done to rule it out. But if there is really brain maldevelopment, it is recommended to start rehabilitation treatment in time.

5. Autism may still be related to an abnormal birth history. In this case, it is better to seek help from a psychologist.
