What causes molluscum in children?

Infectious warts in babies are usually caused by viral infection, but it may also be through skin contact, such as in a public bath. The baby's skin is very delicate, and the baby's body resistance is relatively poor. If the baby is not careful and comes into contact with the molluscum virus, it will cause molluscum. If the baby has molluscum, parents must treat the baby in time to prevent the molluscum from growing larger and affecting their health.

Characteristics of molluscum contagiosum in children

2 to 7 weeks after the virus enters the skin, one or several small round papules gradually appear on the skin surface. They are the size of millet grains or mung beans and their color is the same as the surrounding normal skin or pearly. The surface is shiny as if coated with wax. The center of the rash gradually sinks to form a small pit. Sometimes there is a small white dot in the center of the pit. When squeezed with tweezers, white cheese-like substance can be squeezed out of it.

The rash is mostly scattered on the chest, back, waist, abdomen, etc., and sometimes appears on the face, neck and limbs, and sometimes can be clustered in 1 to 2 areas. After becoming ill, most people do not feel itchy, painful or anything else, but a few people experience varying degrees of itching.

Infection often occurs after scratching or self-squeezing, with redness and swelling around the rash and pustules in the center. Some people also develop eczema-like changes due to scratching or the irritation of water, soap and towels when taking a bath, with new red spots, blood rashes, scratches and blood scabs appearing around the original rash.

Treatment of molluscum contagiosum in children

The rash of molluscum contagiosum has obvious characteristics. When parents find that their children have suspicious rashes, they should seek medical attention as soon as possible. No matter how many rashes there are, they will not disappear on their own. Scrubbing and scratching can cause self-contact and can also be transmitted to others.

Children suffering from flat warts need to choose the right products to eradicate the wart virus in time to avoid recurrence and waste of money. Truly safe products that eradicate wart viruses do not achieve their effects by corroding or destroying the surface of warts. For example, physical therapies such as laser and freezing are only symptomatic and will not cure the root cause, and will cause recurrences. Instead, they act directly on the HPV wart virus and achieve the purpose of permanent wart removal by destroying the proliferation and survival of the HPV wart virus.

In clinical practice, for molluscum contagiosum, the first method of treatment is extraction. Generally, the doctor extracts the molluscum contagiosum according to the size of the patient's molluscum contagiosum. Generally, some white tofu dregs-like substances are left after extraction, while others are just a layer of skin. After extraction, some iodine can be applied to the affected area to disinfect the surface.

In addition, there is a freezing treatment method, which uses ultra-low temperatures to treat molluscum. However, if this method treats superficially, the virus cannot be completely eliminated, and if it treats deeply, it is easy to leave scars. During the treatment process, the warts are frozen at low temperatures, which is a pain that most people cannot bear.

Finally, there is laser treatment. During the treatment, the patient will feel a pricking sensation on the skin and can also smell the odor of his or her skin burning. Just like the freezing method, if the treatment is too shallow, the skin will not be completely removed, and if it is too deep, scars will be left. Relevant medical diagnosis and treatment are carried out in regular medical institutions.
