Why do young children have blood in their stools?

First of all, we have to observe whether the child has any abnormalities or feels uncomfortable. We can take the child to a relevant children's hospital for a comprehensive examination. After all, children do not know how to express their pain themselves. Some diseases are caused by the intestines and need to be treated in the hospital as soon as possible. If not treated in time, it will bring great sequelae to the child and may even be life-threatening.

First, divide the diseases that cause bloody stools into two categories: those with abdominal pain and those without abdominal pain. If a child passes a mixture of blood and mucus and has abdominal colic, first be sure to rule out intestinal obstruction caused by intussusception, clamping inguinal hernia, and malrotation of the intestines resulting in intestinal kinking. If you have blood in your stool but no abdominal pain, consider:

(1) If the stool is hard and coarse, there is blood on the surface of the stool, or there is blood on the toilet paper used for wiping, or there is blood dripping into the toilet bowl like raindrops after defecation, you should consider anal fissure. A careful examination of the anus will provide the answer.

(2) If the stool is formed and soft, and no anal fissure is found during rectal examination, then colon polyps should be considered. The doctor will perform a rectal examination on the patient and, if necessary, arrange for a colonoscopy.

(3) If the stool is brick red or dark red and contains a lot of paste, Meckel’s diverticulum should be considered and a nuclear medicine radiography scan should be arranged. Finally, I would like to remind you again that when a child’s stool contains blood, you should carefully observe whether there is diarrhea? Or hard stools? Or normal soft stool? Pay attention to the relationship between feces and blood. Is it just blood attached to the surface of the feces? Or is it a large amount of blood and feces evenly mixed into a brick-red, dark red, or asphalt-like paste? Don't forget that the best way is to take your child's bowel movements to the doctor for examination.

As parents, we should pay more attention to our children. Children do not know how to express their emotions, so we parents need to pay more attention to some habits in children's lives, develop good living habits for children, develop reasonable eating habits, and provide children with a quiet environment to rest.
