Children like to run around and they like to run barefoot because they feel uncomfortable wearing anything on their feet. Just like we see many babies always like to take off their shoes, children also like to walk barefoot. The consequence of going barefoot is that many children's feet are easily infected by various bacteria, and blisters and herpes are common. What should parents do if their children develop blisters on their feet and are itchy? There are hard lumps and itching. This indicates that the symptoms may be caused by ringworm. It is recommended to get it checked out. Dermatophytes mainly refer to keratinophilic dermatophytes, including Trichophyton, Microsporum and Epidermophyton. They invade the skin, hair and nail plates of humans and animals. The infections caused are collectively called dermatophytes, or ringworm for short. At present, dermatophyte diseases are still named according to the site of onset, such as tinea capitis, tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea manuum, tinea pedis, etc. It is more common in summer and less common in winter. Causes The main pathogens of this disease are dermatophytes, mainly including Trichophyton, Microsporum and Epidermophyton. Their common characteristic is that they are keratinophilic, invade the skin, hair and nail plates of humans and animals, and cause infection. Fungi that infect humans mainly come from the external environment, and the infection route can be contact, inhalation or ingestion. Clinical manifestations 1. Tinea capitis A disease caused by fungal infection of the scalp hair. It mostly affects children and is rare in adults. Depending on the treatment of different diseases, it is roughly divided into four types, namely yellow ringworm, white ringworm, black ringworm and pustular ringworm. 2. Tinea corporis A superficial fungal skin infection caused by pathogenic fungi parasitizing on the smooth skin of the human body (except the skin of the hands, feet, hair, nail plate and pubic area). It mainly occurs in young and middle-aged people and men, and often occurs in summer. It often occurs on the face, trunk, and proximal extremities. It causes a very mild inflammatory reaction, resulting in lesions such as erythema, papules, blisters, and subsequent desquamation. It is often ring-shaped, so it is commonly known as tinea roundis or ringworm. 3. Ringworm Dermatophyte infection of the palms. Men, women, young and old can all be infected, but it is more common in adults. The disease starts in a certain part of the palm, slowly expands, and eventually affects most or all of the palms or even both sides. The lesions are erythema, blisters, scaling and keratinization. 4. Tinea pedis Dermatophyte infection of the foot. It is more common in adults and less common in children. The disease has obvious seasonality, with severe symptoms in summer and autumn and mild symptoms in winter and spring. Tinea pedis is characterized by subcutaneous blisters, maceration and erosion between the toes, water exudation, hyperkeratosis, and desquamation. Clinically, it can be divided into hyperkeratosis type, papule-squamous type, blister type, interdigital erosion type, and tinea corporis type. 5. Tinea versicolor Commonly known as pityriasis versicolor. It often occurs in young and middle-aged people with hyperhidrosis. It often occurs on the neck, shoulder blades, chest and back, especially in the sweaty areas and the proximal ends of the limbs. The skin lesions are round or irregular non-inflammatory plaques of varying sizes with clear boundaries. They are light brown, gray-brown to dark brown, or slightly hypopigmented. There may be a small amount of bran-like fine scales, which often merge into flakes. There may be mild itching, and they often occur in summer and heal in winter. 6. Onychomycosis A disease caused by dermatophytes invading the nail plate or under the nail. At first, the nail bed is slightly itchy, followed by discoloration of the nail, unevenness of the nail plate, loss of luster, gradual thickening, or hollowing out and becoming incomplete or brittle, often separating from the nail bed. Generally there are no subjective symptoms, and a few have mild itching. |
