Baby vomits yellow-green mucus

Baby vomits yellow-green mucus

It is very common for babies to spit up in daily life. However, most spitting up is normal. However, this does not mean that all spitting up is normal. Parents need to learn to observe. If the baby spit up yellow-green milk, it is usually caused by excessive stomach acid. You can give the baby some probiotics to help the baby regulate the stomach. After each feeding, it is best to burp the baby, which can reduce the baby's spitting up.

How to relieve 20-day-old baby spitting up milk

1. Try to hold your baby upright and burp him after each feeding. Spitting up is caused by your baby swallowing air while feeding. The baby's gastrointestinal tract is not yet fully developed, and inhaling air at this time will cause the baby to vomit. After each feeding, hold the baby upright and pat the baby's back with your hollow palm until the baby burps loudly.

2. Avoid lifting or turning the baby too much, and handle the baby with care. A baby's stomach is different from that of an adult's. It is horizontal and shallow. Therefore, every time you hold your baby, you should handle him/her gently and avoid turning him/her over too much. This way you won't spit up milk. It is conceivable that if an adult jumps around after eating, he or she may easily suffer from acid reflux.

3. Eat small meals frequently. Many times, spitting up is caused by improper feeding. Frequent feeding will cause the baby to have food accumulation and will inevitably cause vomiting. Parents can observe their babies. When the baby cries, don't just feed him/her blindly. See if the baby has other needs, or see if there are other ways to calm the baby down. In short, don't breastfeed blindly.

4. Observe the color of the baby's spit up. Under normal circumstances, the color of baby's spit up should be white. Sometimes it's like clear water, sometimes it's like fresh milk, and sometimes it's white curds. These are all normal situations and just need to be paid attention to in daily maintenance.

Feeding methods that cause babies to spit up

1. Breastfeed while lying on your back. Perhaps because they are afraid that the baby will be tired, or to make feeding easier, many parents feed the baby while the baby is lying on his back. In fact, this is not very scientific. Due to the special structure of the baby's stomach, when lying on its back, it is easy for milk to be retained in the stomach, which can easily lead to vomiting. The more correct posture is to hold the baby while feeding, so that the baby's body is tilted at about 45 degrees, and the milk in the stomach naturally flows into the small intestine. This can effectively reduce the chance of vomiting caused by feeding while lying down.

2. Air enters during breastfeeding. Compared with adults, the larynx of newborns is higher, and their way of sucking the nipple is clumsy, so air is easily inhaled into the stomach along with the milk when they feed, which makes it easy for them to spit up milk when they burp or shake their bodies.

When feeding your baby while holding him/her, be as gentle as possible and avoid shaking the baby's body violently. Second, when feeding, let the child's mouth cover the entire nipple to prevent air from entering. When feeding with a bottle, the nipple should be completely filled with milk, and try to avoid bringing air into the baby's stomach during feeding and causing vomiting.
