What is the use of rubbing the soles of your baby's feet?

For some babies, since some organs have not yet fully developed, they are prone to diseases such as indigestion. In fact, it is often caused by weak spleen and stomach. According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, proper massage of the baby's feet is of great help to health.

Acupoint 1: Yongquan Point - Guiding the fire back to its origin, clearing the brain and relieving adverse reactions

Many babies have one thing in common: they like to go barefoot, don’t like to wear shoes or socks, kick off the quilt when sleeping, turn in circles when sleeping, and have a bad temper. This is because the baby's own characteristics are a pure yang body with a reproductive nature. In addition, the diet is nutritious and high in calories, and the baby exercises little, which leads to heat accumulation in the body, causing phenomena such as fear of heat, sweating easily, and irritability.

The Yongquan point is on the Taiyin Kidney Meridian of the Foot, which means that the water in the kidney meridian in the body flows out to the body surface like a spring. The function of massaging this acupoint is to guide the fire back to its origin, clear the brain and reduce adverse effects, reduce false heat, and stop vomiting and diarrhea. Therefore, massaging the baby's Yongquan point can help guide the fire downward and out through the soles of the feet.

Find the acupoint: This acupoint is located in the depression where the front 1/3 and the back 2/3 of the sole of the foot meet.

Massage technique: Use the tip of your thumb to press the acupoints, or push towards the toes. Massage each foot for 1 minute. The force should be gentle, and the child should not dodge.

Acupoint 2: Kunlun and Taixi points - nourish the spleen, stomach, kidney and waist, nourish yin and blood

The "Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic" says: Kidneys are the foundation of congenitality. The baby's growth and development, as well as the formation of bones, brain marrow, hair, hearing, teeth, etc. are all closely related to the kidneys. The kidney essence that the baby is born with needs to rely on the nourishment of the qi and blood of the spleen and stomach in order to be gradually replenished. Kunlun point has the functions of nourishing the kidney and strengthening the waist, relaxing muscles and tendons, activating blood circulation and dredging collaterals; Taixi point represents the water of the kidney meridian which forms a large stream here, which has the functions of nourishing yin and blood. At the same time, it can also help children crawl faster and walk more steadily.

Kunlun acupoint Taixi acupoint

Find the correct acupoints: Kunlun point is located in the depression between the tip of the lateral malleolus and the Achilles tendon; Taixi point is located in the depression between the tip of the medial malleolus and the Achilles tendon, opposite to Kunlun point.

Massage technique: Squeeze Kunlun and Taixi together with the thumb and index finger of your hand. The massage time is 1 minute.

Acupoint 3: Zusanli - Strengthens the spleen and stomach

Babies under 3 years old have delicate internal organs, immature bodies, and often insufficient spleens. Only when the spleen and stomach function well can their growth, development, and ability to resist disease be enhanced. Zusanli is an acupuncture point on the Yangming Stomach Meridian, known as the longevity point and the beauty point. Massaging Zusanli has the effects of regulating the body's immunity, enhancing disease resistance, nourishing the spleen and stomach, strengthening the spleen and eliminating dampness, nourishing qi and blood, and strengthening the body and eliminating evil. The source of a person's acquired health lies in the stomach. The stomach is the main organ for digesting and absorbing nutrients. If the stomach is healthy, all kinds of diseases will not occur.
