Children suddenly have allergies

Children suddenly have allergies

If a child's skin suddenly develops allergies, don't panic too much. You must first find out the specific cause of your baby's allergies. Only in this way can you improve the situation fundamentally. Otherwise, if it continues for a long time, it will have a greater impact on the baby's mental state, and the child may even feel that the skin becomes very itchy. If this is the case, you must take appropriate measures in time to avoid worsening of the condition.

Children's skin allergy is an inflammatory skin disease characterized by redness, swelling, and itching. After the allergy occurs, the baby will scratch and cry repeatedly, and in severe cases, it may also cause loss of appetite, which in turn affects the mental state.

The causes of children's skin allergies are mainly divided into internal and external factors. Internal factors include genetic factors, chronic infection lesions, endocrine and metabolic changes, blood circulation disorders, neuropsychiatric factors, etc.; external factors include food, inhalants, living environment, various chemical substances, etc.

Common foods that children are allergic to: seafood, especially lobster, fish, wheat, soybeans, peanuts, chocolate, milk, eggs, and nuts. For some foods, allergic reactions disappear as children grow older, such as milk, eggs, wheat, soybeans, etc.

Common environmental and chemical allergy factors: dust mites, pollen, animal fur, carpets, synthetic clothing, irritating toiletries, etc.

Skin allergy symptoms in children

The most obvious symptom of skin allergies in children is skin itching. Mild skin allergies include local congestion, redness, swelling, light blood spots, and a burning sensation. Skin allergies may also lead to symptoms such as urticaria, eczema, erythema, and scaly skin. In severe cases, erythema may be followed by blisters, erosions, papules, and pain.

What to do if your child has skin allergies

First of all, if a child has skin allergies, the allergen should be found as soon as possible to prevent the child from repeatedly scratching the affected area due to itching, and the indoor temperature and humidity should be adjusted to a moderate level.

Secondly, if your child suffers from allergic dermatitis, you should avoid skin irritation, such as washing the face or bathing with overheated water, and do not use alkaline substances such as soap, because alkali will aggravate the allergy.

Third, if children are allergic to ultraviolet rays, they should be kept away from going out in strong light.

Fourth, if the child has a severe skin allergy reaction, go to the hospital for treatment in time.

How to prevent skin allergies in children

The most effective way to prevent children from skin allergies is to keep them away from allergens in the environment and food, such as dust mites, pet hair, stuffed toys, carpets, etc.

1. Methods for dealing with environmental factors: Keep the room clean, open windows for ventilation frequently, reduce the chances of children coming into contact with pollen, remove dust frequently, and use less carpets.

2. Children's diet: It is best for babies under 1 year old to be breastfed. Be careful when feeding children with foreign protein foods such as milk, prawns, eggs, and seafood.

3. Choose qualified clothes and bedding. It is best to choose cotton underwear for children, and avoid chemical fiber fabrics such as wool. Remove clothing labels from underwear to reduce irritation.

4. Avoid using alkaline cleaning products. When skin diseases are serious, do not use detergents. Usually, use bath products with less irritation and avoid using products containing soap. Bathing can relieve symptoms, but excessive skin washing should be avoided, especially with hot soapy water or disinfectants.
