How to treat favism in children

What are the symptoms of favism in children? What are the effective treatments and solutions? Perhaps when faced with this problem in life, many parents will be at a loss, and children are very delicate, so if the treatment is delayed, it will be very disadvantageous. Therefore, parents also need to know some treatments for childhood favism. Correct treatment and improvement can allow children to quickly get rid of the entanglement of favism.

The treatment of favism mainly includes the following aspects:

(1) Blood transfusion: This disease is characterized by acute hemolysis and severe anemia. Blood transfusion or transfusion of packed red blood cells is the most effective treatment measure. In severe cases, blood transfusions may be required repeatedly. However, a rapid screening test for glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase should be performed on the blood source to avoid blood supply from people with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, which may cause the patient to suffer a second hemolysis.

(2) Adrenal cortical hormones: They mainly have an immunosuppressive effect and should be used early, in large amounts, and for a short period of time.

(3) Correct acidosis: There is often varying degrees of acidosis during the hemolytic phase of favism. In severe cases, blood transfusion alone is ineffective and should be actively corrected. This is a key measure to rescue critically ill patients.

(4) Fluid replacement: Drink plenty of water or take in fluids to improve microcirculation, maintain effective blood circulation, and promote kidney acid and hemoglobin excretion. But acute renal failure should be prevented. When acute renal failure occurs, attention should be paid to maintaining water and electrolyte balance.

For children, any disease in the body will have a relatively large impact on them, so the same is true when facing favism. We need to focus on scientific treatment and prevention, so as to avoid these disease problems and the impact and harm on children's health and ensure their health.
