Premature infant feeding scale for three months

Premature infant feeding scale for three months

When a premature baby reaches three months old, his physical constitution is relatively good and his development is also relatively good, but he may be lighter than a full-term baby. The amount of milk the baby consumes at this time will also increase significantly. The specific amount of milk the baby consumes depends on the parents' experience on the one hand, and can be calculated through feeding formulas on the other hand. As a child, you must grasp some principles in your diet. The most important thing is to eat small meals frequently. Let's take a look at this aspect.

Premature infant feeding scale for three months

Premature baby feeding refers to the special care given to the baby in feeding because the fetus is born before 37 weeks, many of its organs are immature, its living ability and resistance are relatively weak, and it is easy to cause many diseases. Because of this, the amount of milk that premature babies need to be fed is different from that of full-term babies. Mothers can usually feed their babies according to the premature baby milk dosage chart.

Calculate the amount of milk you need:

The stomach capacity of a baby weighing 1 kg is about 5 ml, and the stomach capacity of a baby weighing 2.5 kg can reach 12 to 15 ml.

Calculated by kilograms of body weight, the initial milk amount can be 2 to 4 ml per kilogram of body weight each time, and then increase by 1 to 2 ml per 1000 grams of body weight each time per day.

So, on the third day after birth, the total milk volume should be 110-120 ml, and thereafter it can be controlled at 130-140 ml.

From this, the following formula for feeding premature infants can be deduced:

Daily breastfeeding amount for premature infants within 10 days after birth (ml) = (actual number of days since birth + 10) × body weight (g/100) Daily breastfeeding amount after 10 days (ml) = 20%~25% body weight (g)

Warm Tips for Baby

Each premature baby has certain individual differences and different complications. At the same time, the amount of milk increases with the growing weight. Therefore, the amount of milk calculated by any method is theoretical. Mothers should consider how much milk the child can actually absorb and digest. The insufficient part should be supplemented by other methods as much as possible.
