Why do children get autism? You need to understand these reasons

If a child cannot smile several months after birth, cannot recognize his parents' voices, cannot speak even at the age of one, and does not want to communicate with the outside world, then it may be due to autism, which is a disease that many children suffer from. Before treatment, we must first know the cause. Why does the child have autism? The sooner parents know about it, the earlier treatment can be given.

1. Genetic factors

Among 20% of autistic patients, their families can be found to have intellectual disabilities, language delays and autism-like symptoms. In addition, approximately 10% of boys with autism have fragile X syndrome.

2. Viral infections during pregnancy

During pregnancy, women may be infected with viruses such as German measles or influenza, which may damage the brain development of the fetus and cause autism.

3. Metabolic diseases

Congenital metabolic disorders such as phenylketonuria cause dysfunction and disorders of brain cells, which will affect the function of brain nerve information transmission and cause autism.

4. Brain injury

Factors including incomplete brain development caused by distressed miscarriage during pregnancy, premature birth, difficult labor, neonatal brain injury during delivery, and brain damage caused by infections such as encephalitis and meningitis in infancy may increase the chance of autism.

5. Organic factors

Children with this disease are more likely to have a history of perinatal injuries than normal children, including premature birth, difficult labor, asphyxia, and birth problems. The incidence of this disease is higher in those who have suffered from meningitis, encephalitis, and brain trauma after birth. In recent years, magnetic resonance imaging studies have found that children with this disease have an enlarged fourth ventricle, underdeveloped cerebellar vermis, and a significantly smaller brain stem.

The above introduces the causes of autism. Some children have it due to genetic factors. Some are due to environmental factors. Living in a place far away from the outside world for a long time will cause children to suffer from such diseases. Some children also suffer from severe organic damage, which may also result in autism. Therefore, only by finding out the cause can we provide targeted treatment.
