Baby's belly button bulging

Baby's belly button bulging

We all know that the belly button of a child is a very important part for the child, but when the child is young, the belly button is also a very sensitive part. It is particularly prone to inflammation. When it causes umbilical inflammation, the child may also have diarrhea and stomach pain, so the child must be treated in time. So what is the matter with the child's belly button bulging?

The protruding belly button, medically known as "umbilical hernia", is a common congenital developmental defect. After the baby is born, the navel is a congenital weak point. Any increase in intra-abdominal pressure can cause the umbilical hernia to protrude, such as coughing, sneezing, crying, etc. When the child is quiet or lying flat, the protruding intestines return to the abdominal cavity and the lump disappears. As age increases, the abdominal muscles develop, the hernial orifice gradually shrinks, and finally closes, and the umbilical hernia disappears. Generally, for children over 1 to 2 years old, for small umbilical hernias (less than 2 cm in diameter), you can ask the pediatric surgeon to use conservative treatment, using adhesive tape, which should be replaced every 1 to 2 weeks. The disadvantage of this method is that the adhesive tape can easily irritate the skin. You should carefully observe whether there is dermatitis at the place where the adhesive tape is applied, and never apply it randomly at home. If conservative treatment is ineffective or the umbilical hernia orifice is large, you should go to the hospital for surgical treatment, which has very good results.

In this case, the baby may have umbilical hernia. The causes of umbilical hernia include: incomplete development of the umbilicus, incomplete closure of the umbilical ring, or weak and insufficiently firm scar tissue in the umbilicus. When the intra-abdominal pressure increases (frequent crying, constipation, coughing hard, etc.), the internal organs may protrude from the umbilicus.

Suggestions:

1. Most children can heal themselves within 1 year through the gradual contraction of the umbilical fascia ring. If you recover, you will be the same as a normal person.

2. Usually, you can use methods such as abdominal bandage to compress the hernia ring and prevent intestinal herniation.

3. If the protrusion is severe, you can gently rub the protruding part with your hands, try to rub it as much as possible to prevent the intestine from being embedded in the local area and causing intestinal necrosis. If the protrusion cannot be restored and the child cries and becomes restless, it is recommended to go to the hospital to rule out the possibility of a blockage, and emergency surgery is required if necessary.

4. If there is no spontaneous healing and surgery is required, it is recommended to do it after the child is 2 years old. The surgery is not difficult and costs about a few thousand yuan. It should be possible in general district or county hospitals.

This condition of the child is called umbilical hernia, which is a type of pediatric hernia. It usually heals naturally as the child grows older.

Suggestions: No special treatment is needed now, just pay attention to local hygiene. When the child is older, he will recover on his own.

If it is not serious, it will recover slowly. If it is serious, it will seem like it needs to be tied with a band to press it back. Go to the hospital and see a pediatric surgeon.
