Does your child have purulent discharge from his eyes?

Does your child have purulent discharge from his eyes?

If your baby has purulent secretions in his eyes, it is probably conjunctivitis caused by bacterial infection or neonatal lacrimal glanditis. If it is conjunctivitis, this disease is mostly caused by bacterial infection. It is best to let your baby rub his eyes less often. Parents must actively treat their babies and avoid further spread of inflammation that may worsen the condition. Give your baby medication under the guidance of a doctor.

Early symptoms of conjunctivitis in children

1. Increased secretions:

Increased secretions are the main symptom of conjunctivitis. This secretion can be divided into several categories, such as watery, viscous, purulent, and mucopurulent, and is mostly white or yellow.

2. Conjunctival congestion:

The dilation of blood vessels in the conjunctiva surface causes congestion, which may be diffuse or localized. The hyperemia is bright red, and the color is more obvious in the fornix area, but the color of the hyperemia in the limbus is lighter. If your child's eyes are not swollen at this time, they will not be tender.

3. Mixed congestion:

When conjunctivitis gradually spreads to the cornea, sclera, fascia and other parts, conjunctival congestion and ciliary congestion may coexist. We call this mixed bleeding.

Can conjunctivitis in children heal on its own?

Whether conjunctivitis in children can heal itself depends on the situation. Generally speaking, neonatal conjunctivitis can heal itself. There is no need to worry too much. Just keep wiping it slowly with clean water. Allergic conjunctivitis can heal itself slowly as long as you stay away from allergens. However, most other conjunctivitis is basically a self-limiting disease. Drugs can only relieve symptoms, shorten the course of the disease, and kill the virus's immunity to itself, so it takes a certain amount of time to cure the disease.

Causes of allergic conjunctivitis in babies

1. Sensitive constitution

If a baby is born with an allergic constitution, he or she is likely to suffer from allergic conjunctivitis for a long time. This type of baby is particularly sensitive to certain irritants, which manifests as a tendency to allergic or exudative lesions on the skin and mucous membranes.

2. Genetic factors

If a parent has allergic conjunctivitis, the baby is likely to have the same condition.

3. Season and weather factors

Most allergic conjunctivitis is caused by pollen allergies in the baby.

4. Caused by allergens

Babies' playful nature gives many allergens the opportunity to enter their bodies. Dust, cold and humid air, dust mites, animal hair, soaps, perfumes, cosmetics, and medicines can all cause allergic conjunctivitis in babies.
