What to do if your newborn doesn't urinate

Urination is a common reaction in people's daily life. It is mainly a way to eliminate toxins and waste products from the body. However, some newborns may not urinate after birth. When this situation occurs, it has a great impact on the health of newborns because some impurities in their bodies cannot be discharged. So what methods should be used to treat the condition of newborn anuria?

Why does a newborn baby not urinate?

There are two reasons why babies don't urinate: one is that the weather is hot and the body needs more water than usual; the other is that they have a fever. At this time, let the baby drink as much water as he wants. If you urinate after a while, it means there is no problem. If your urine is dark and concentrated, you may need to drink more water. If a newborn baby has not urinated within 24 hours after birth, the doctor should be asked to check whether the baby has congenital urinary tract malformations.

What are the symptoms of abnormal urine in newborns?

1. Urine turns white: For most babies, urine turning white is not a pathological phenomenon. Especially in cold seasons, the baby's urine turns white mainly because calcium phosphate, calcium oxalate, calcium carbonate and other calcium-containing substances in the urine precipitate when the acidity of the urine is alkaline. This is a normal physiological phenomenon because the baby's kidneys are not yet fully developed. But if the baby's urine turns milky white, it may contain a large number of pus cells in the urine, and you should go to the hospital for further examination.

2. Urine turns red: First, we need to determine whether the red urine is caused by hematuria. Hematuria is a sign of many diseases. It may be due to urinary system diseases and systemic diseases. If a newborn or infant has hematuria, it is mostly due to congenital urinary tract malformations. A considerable number of babies may have temporary hematuria after strenuous activity or when they have a fever.

3. Decreased urine volume: If the mother finds that the baby’s urine volume has decreased significantly, analyze the reasons immediately. If the baby's urine volume decreases due to vomiting or diarrhea, a large amount of water may be excreted from the body, causing dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. Take your child to see a doctor in time.

What's wrong with a newborn baby not urinating? If a newborn baby does not urinate, you should go to a regular hospital for examination in time to get your child rid of the disease as soon as possible. In the process of the baby's growth, it is inevitable to encounter some problems. Therefore, mothers must not be too nervous. Finding ways to solve them is the best way for the child, and mothers must pay attention to these things.
