In life, many women suffer from gynecological diseases, but most of them are women who have given birth to children. Few children suffer from gynecological diseases. Generally, children suffer from gynecological diseases when they are about one year old. When children have gynecological inflammation, most of them will feel vulvar itching. At this time, the child must be treated in time to avoid bacterial infection. So what are the symptoms of gynecology in children? Vulvitis in infants and young children It is common in girls under 5 years old and often coexists with vaginitis. It is called infantile vulvovaginitis and is the most common disease in pediatric gynecology. Due to the poor language expression ability of infants and young children, they are easily misdiagnosed or missed, causing symptoms to worsen and last for a long time. The cause of the disease is that infants and young children have low estrogen levels, and the barrier function of the vulva mucosa is poor, making it easy to be contaminated; poor hygiene habits, unclean vulva, and vulva damage can all cause inflammation. The clinical manifestations are flushing of the vulvar skin and increased, purulent vaginal discharge. Vaginal bleeding in newborns Also known as false menstruation, about 45% of newborn girls will have a small amount of menstrual-like vaginal bleeding 6 to 7 days after birth. It usually lasts for 4 to 8 days and stops naturally, and is often accompanied by mild breast swelling and congestion. This is a physiological phenomenon. As long as the amount of bleeding is not much and the duration is not long, generally no other special treatment is required. The reason is mostly because the estrogen of pregnant women enters the fetus in the late pregnancy, and the estrogen is suddenly interrupted after the baby is born, resulting in menstrual-like bleeding. It should be noted that if the newborn has excessive vaginal bleeding, he or she should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment. Vaginal foreign bodies This phenomenon is more common in young girls. For example, some girls wear open-crotch pants and sit and play anywhere. Foreign objects enter the vagina, causing mechanical damage and inflammation, which increases vaginal secretions, making them purulent or bloody, with a foul odor. If you find this situation, you should go to the hospital for treatment immediately. Precocious puberty If a child under the age of 10 has menstrual-like periodic vaginal bleeding, accompanied by breast enlargement, vulva development, and growth of pubic and axillary hair, beware of precocious puberty. Survey data in recent years show that precocious puberty in children is mostly caused by taking nutritional supplements too early and in excessive amounts. For these children, parents only need to strengthen observation, monitoring and guidance. However, in a very small number of children, precocious puberty is caused by lesions in the hypothalamus, ovaries, adrenal cortex, etc. You should be vigilant and it is best to go to the hospital for diagnosis. In addition, some children may experience temporary precocious puberty and vaginal bleeding if they accidentally take their mother's contraceptive pills. As long as parents prevent their children from accidentally taking the pills again, the vaginal bleeding will stop naturally. Leech bites It often occurs in midsummer and there is a history of contact with field water or stream or river water. After leeches bite the vagina or vulva, the main symptoms are continuous local bleeding in the vagina and circular bite marks. In this case, the first thing to do is to clean the vulva, vagina and bite wound, and then apply pressure to stop the bleeding with sterilized gauze or cotton. Reproductive tract neoplasms Although vaginal and cervical tumors are rare in infants and young children, they are highly malignant and develop rapidly. If they are not discovered and treated early, they will pose hidden dangers to their development and future life. If you find blood on the pants, frequent urination, painful urination, or small tumor-like objects protruding from the vaginal opening, parents should pay close attention and take their children to the hospital for examination in time to avoid delaying treatment. |
