Generally speaking, if children develop esotropia after 6 months of age, they must not undergo surgery immediately and must first undergo mydriasis refraction testing. If the esotropia is completely corrected, there is no need for surgery and you can be cured by continuing to wear glasses. If the esotropia is only alleviated after wearing glasses for more than 6 months and residual strabismus still exists, surgical treatment should be performed. If congenital esotropia is discovered after birth or within 6 months, surgery should be performed at 1 to 2 years old, before the development of binocular single vision function. If covering for more than half a year is still ineffective, surgical treatment can also be used.

For esotropia or exotropia caused by intraocular diseases and whose vision cannot be restored, surgery should be performed after the age of 12.
