For first-time mothers and fathers, the most important thing in life is to care for their babies. However, babies may develop some diseases during their growth, which will make parents very anxious and worried. For example, some parents find that their babies' ears are leaking. This is usually caused by the baby scratching himself. So what is going on when the baby's ears are scratched and leaking? First, why does the baby's ears get scratched and water comes out? It may be external auditory canal eczema. External auditory canal eczema is the same disease as eczema on the skin of other parts of the body. It is an allergic skin inflammation, but it occurs on the skin of the external auditory canal. When eczema appears on the skin of the external auditory canal, a yellowish, translucent liquid will seep out, and in large amounts it may even flow onto the face. When this liquid dries, it will form a shiny layer of dry scab or some small flaky debris. Some eczema covers a larger area, not just the external auditory canal, but also the auricle, behind the ear, and even the face. External auditory canal eczema mainly causes itching in children. Babies will often scratch their ears. Be sure to cut your child's nails to avoid infection after scratching their ears. Eczema is not an infectious disease, and antibiotic ear drops have no therapeutic effect on eczema. Antibiotics will only be considered when eczema is complicated by infection. Second, what is the cause of external auditory canal eczema in young children? External auditory canal eczema in young children is not necessarily caused by something getting into the ear. The causes of external auditory canal eczema are different for babies from different families and different regions. The two most common factors are: Environmental factors: Pollutants in the child's environment (including the most popular PM2.5), shed hair from pets, fungi and mites on clothing, etc., can all cause the onset of eczema. Among baby's food, the relationship between breast milk and eczema is somewhat controversial, and the research results of different professional institutions in Europe and the United States are very different. All we can say is that breast milk may cause eczema in some children, but the cause is not clear for others. In my personal opinion, if the child’s only food source is breast milk, if external auditory canal eczema recurs, you should suspect a problem with the breast milk. Other children who have already started eating eggs should be careful. If eczema recurs, they may need to stop eating eggs for a period of time. What happened to the baby's ears when they were scratched and water is coming out? For children, it is because their adaptability is poor and their immunity is low. Skin infection is very likely to occur, and pus and fluid will ooze out of the skin. We call this condition impetigo. In this case, the first thing to do is to keep the child's local skin clean. Use warm water to clean the area and then apply externally. |
