Can brain atrophy be cured?

Generally speaking, recovery from brain atrophy is very difficult, and it takes a long time to patiently persist in brain training and exercise. Training can be conducted under the guidance of a doctor. The main training is the patient's physical movements and hands-on ability, while also focusing on rehabilitation in aspects such as life, language, understanding, and reaction. On this basis, drug treatment is continuously used, but the effect of drugs is limited and patients should not have too many illusions.

Brain atrophy refers to a type of neuropsychiatric disease caused by organic lesions in the brain tissue itself due to various reasons, resulting in atrophy. Brain atrophy includes pediatric brain atrophy and adult brain atrophy. Because of its complex causes, slow onset, and difficult to detect, the disease has a long course, slow progression, and may gradually worsen, affecting the patient's normal life and work. Generally speaking, the relative volume of human brain tissue gradually decreases. If we don't pay attention to it, brain cells will slowly be lost, resulting in brain atrophy.

Clinical manifestations of brain atrophy

1. Systemic symptoms

In the early stages of the disease, patients often experience dizziness and headaches, insomnia and nightmares, weakness in the waist and knees, numbness in the hands and feet, tinnitus and deafness, slow reactions, slow movements, and mumbling to themselves when answering questions. Physically, it usually presents as an old-fashioned dragon with white teeth, dry skin, pigmentation or hemiplegia, epilepsy, ataxia, tremors, etc. Neurological symptoms may or may not be present.

2. Memory impairment

Recent memory loss occurs earlier, such as frequent loss of items and forgetting promises. As the disease progresses, memory is completely lost.

3. Changes in personality and behavior

Personality changes are often early symptoms of the disease. Patients become depressed and do not like to interact with others; or seem to have no ideals, desires, and lack affection for their loved ones; or have strange living habits, irritability, increased or repetitive speech, and suspicious selfishness; or pay special attention to one's health and safety, and are often entangled in some minor discomforts; or manifest as forgetfulness or mania, fantasy, hallucinations, auditory hallucinations, aphasia, and the so-called patients' higher emotional activities, shame, responsibility, honor and morality all decline to varying degrees, and changes in sleep rhythm may also occur.

4. Intellectual decline, dementia

The performance of intellectual activities such as comprehension, judgment and calculation abilities declines across the board, making it impossible to adapt to social life and difficult to handle work and housework.
