Why are the newborn's legs shaking?

Why are the newborn's legs shaking?

It is quite common for newborns to have trembling legs. Most of the time, it is due to physiological reasons, which is related to the imperfect development of the child's brain. As the child grows and develops, this situation will generally improve gradually. Of course, we must also be alert to some disease-related reasons. For example, if the child's brain itself has certain problems, it can easily lead to such manifestations. Let's take a look at this aspect.

Why are the newborn's legs shaking?

1. The neurological development of newborns is not yet mature, and the medullary cord of nerve fibers is not completely blue, so the "insulation" is poor. When a nerve is stimulated, the excitement can be transmitted to adjacent nerve fibers at the same time, causing a brief "short circuit". Even a mild stimulation may cause obvious shaking of the baby's hands and feet.

2. Because the baby's brain tissue has not yet fully matured, the function of controlling muscles is not yet sound. However, the subordinate subcortical centers and spinal cord are relatively complete in function. Therefore, the baby's movements are completed through them and are not completely controlled by the cerebral cortex, the highest nerve center. Only movements controlled by the cerebral cortex can achieve the most stable, coordinated and purposeful movements.

Is it cerebral palsy if the 2-month-old baby's legs are shaking?

Leg shaking in a two-month-old baby does not indicate cerebral palsy, because the baby's brain is in the gradual development stage and is not yet fully developed. For example, if the child is cold, the legs may also shake. The main manifestation of cerebral palsy is convulsion, which is mostly spontaneous, that is, a movement occurs repeatedly. For example, the child often blinks or stares to one side or a limb movement occurs repeatedly, but one side of the limb shakes repeatedly. Convulsions are often excluded clinically, and seizures are often considered. In order to make a clear diagnosis, it is often recommended to go to the hospital for treatment.

Through the above, I believe everyone has understood the two questions: what's wrong with a baby's occasional leg shaking and whether a 2-month-old baby's leg shaking is cerebral palsy. A baby's leg shaking may be cerebral palsy, so if the mother finds this symptom in the baby, she should take the baby for active examination. After this situation is ruled out, mothers don't have to worry.
