What should I do if my baby has red spots on the palms and soles of his feet?

The baby's body resistance is very low, and there is no resistance to some viruses. Therefore, people often encounter babies infected with viruses in life, which makes the baby's body suffer great pain. For example, common disease infections start from the baby's hands and feet, because the baby likes to touch some unclean things. Let's see what to do if there are red spots on the palms and soles of the baby's feet?

The causes include allergic dermatitis, tinea manuum, and viral infection. Viral infections are more common, such as roseola infantum. Red spots or papules on the skin are formed due to viral infection, which can occur on the palms or soles of the feet. Generally, hand, foot and mouth disease usually causes blisters in the pharyngeal area of the mouth.

Based on the child’s current condition, it cannot be completely ruled out that this is an early manifestation of hand, foot and mouth disease. It is best to conduct a routine blood test. Hand, foot and mouth disease is an infectious disease caused by enterovirus. In terms of treatment, if there are no complications, the prognosis is generally good and most patients will recover within a week. The treatment principle is mainly symptomatic treatment.

Hand, foot and mouth disease is mainly caused by enterovirus and is easy to get in children under 4 years old. The disease occurs at the turn of summer and autumn, with September being the peak season. The typical onset is moderate fever (body temperature below 39°C), followed by sore throat. In young children, symptoms include drooling, refusal to eat, and small blisters in the throat. Children without complications can recover in about a week. A small number of children have neurological symptoms, complicated by aseptic meningitis and secondary skin infections, but rarely have sequelae.

Western medicine treatment of hand, foot and mouth disease

1. The treatment principle is mainly symptomatic treatment:

(1) Oral administration of B vitamins, such as vitamin B1, vitamin B2, and vitamin C;

(2) Patients who are vomiting and have difficulty eating should be given intravenous fluids. When eating is difficult due to oral erosion, you can give easily digestible liquid food and rinse your mouth after meals.

(3) For oral ulcers, apply Qingmei powder, chloramphenicol cod liver oil or tin powder externally. If the pain is severe, apply lidocaine or benzocaine with borax and glycerin to promote the early healing of the eroded surface.

And keep the local area clean to avoid secondary bacterial infection.

(4) For skin herpes with secondary infection, apply 1% gentian violet;

(5) Take antiviral drugs, such as ribavirin, viracil, etc. If accompanied by fever, you can use some Chinese medicine for clearing heat and detoxifying.

2. Hand, foot and mouth disease may be combined with myocarditis, encephalitis, meningitis and other diseases, and should be treated promptly.

(1) Patients with meningitis should be treated as those with meningitis.

(2) Patients with concurrent myocarditis should be treated as those with myocarditis.
