Lymph nodes on baby's head

Lymph nodes on baby's head

Most people will be very worried when they hear about the condition of the lymph nodes, because if the lymph nodes are not treated properly, they can easily turn into lymph node cancer. There is no complete treatment for lymph node cancer in current medicine. Especially when lymph nodes appear on the baby's body, parents will fall into a state of anxiety. Some parents found that their baby had lymph nodes on his head. So how should they solve the problem of lymph nodes on their baby's head?

1. Causes of Lymph Nodes

The vast majority of lymph node enlargement is caused by inflammation, and only a very small number are related to tumors. Inflammation can take many forms, such as upper respiratory tract infections (colds, tracheitis, pharyngitis), oral infections (oral inflammation related to children's tooth replacement), tonsillitis, head and facial skin eczema, allergic rhinitis, etc., all of which can cause swollen lymph nodes. In addition, a large part of the cases are latent inflammations without any clinical manifestations that can also cause lymph node enlargement. This is because children's immune systems are not yet fully developed and are extremely vulnerable to invasion by external bacteria and viruses. The lymph nodes are the body's barrier to the outside world, and the proliferation of lymphatic tissue in the lymph nodes is used to resist the invasion of external bacteria and viruses. For lymph node enlargement caused by these inflammations, generally no special treatment for the lymph nodes is required. Only the primary infection needs to be actively treated. After the upper respiratory tract infection, oral infection, tonsillitis, etc. are cured, the lymph node enlargement will naturally subside slowly. There is no need for treatment for hidden lymph node enlargement, just close observation. As long as there is no sudden enlargement, redness, swelling, or pain, no treatment is needed. The most common type of lymph node enlargement caused by tumors is lymphoma. Metastasis of tumors to nearby organs, such as thyroid cancer, can also cause lymph node enlargement.

2. What causes swollen lymph nodes in children?

The reason for swollen lymph nodes in children is that lymph nodes are important organs for the human body to resist viruses. If bacteria or viruses invade the human body, they will act like a loyal guard, enlarge themselves to eliminate the invading bacteria or viruses, and produce antibodies to increase the body's resistance.

The main channels for bacteria or viruses to invade children are the mouth and nose, so swollen lymph nodes in the child's neck often occur. Swollen lymph nodes are sometimes a malignant disease such as tuberculosis, malignant tumors, etc., but swollen lymph nodes in children are usually not a disease. Some parents accidentally touch their baby's swollen lymph nodes and think that their children are sick and are very anxious. If the swollen lymph nodes in the child's neck are not serious, parents do not need to worry at all.

Because if the lymph nodes are swollen, drug treatment will affect the child's own resistance, which is not good for the child's long-term growth. However, once the lymph nodes are found to be swollen beyond the normal range and there are symptoms such as fever and pain, you should go to the hospital for treatment in time. Parents should pay attention to the enlarged lymph nodes behind their children's ears and armpits. Early detection can be very helpful for some serious diseases.

3. How to remove lymph nodes in children

A misunderstanding that many parents have: They always think that "lymph nodes" are a bad "thing". When they see swollen lymph nodes, they become nervous and always focus on these lymph nodes, trying to find ways to remove them.

Some common sense about lymph nodes: - Lymph nodes are the "immune organs" of the human body. If the human body is regarded as "a country", the human immune system is the "army" of a country, protecting the human body from invasion by all pathogens. This lymph node is the army's "frontline sentinel". When a human organ is infected, inflamed or mutated, this "frontline sentinel" will be the first to sound the alarm and "respond" to "intercept" and "deal with" the invading pathogens to ensure that the pathogens do not "directly enter the human blood" and cause damage to the whole body. ——The human body’s lymph nodes are distributed throughout the “soft tissues” of the body, including the creases of each joint, peritoneum, neck, armpits, etc., which “monitor” the tissues under their jurisdiction. ——Therefore, when a tissue in the human body is infected, the lymph nodes under its jurisdiction will become swollen and painful, and in severe cases, they may even become festered due to the large amount of infection. In fact, everyone has had this experience: when your leg is injured, the skin is damaged or infected, you will feel "pain" at the back and lateral roots of your knee joint. In fact, it is the bacteria in these lymph nodes that invade the injured area, causing inflammation there. ——When the tissues near the lymph nodes disappear due to symptoms, the pain in the lymph nodes will also disappear, but it will not disappear so quickly, but will disappear slowly.
