What medicine should children take for pharyngitis and cough

Compared with adults, children are in the stage of growth and development, their resistance is often weaker, and they are more susceptible to invasion of some bacterial inflammations. Many parents are troubled. Every time the seasons change, their children will suffer from seasonal flu, which often manifests as pharyngitis. They will cough incessantly every night and have difficulty falling asleep. So, when children have pharyngitis and cough, what medicine should be used to treat it?

Pharyngitis is an inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa and submucosal tissues, often as part of an upper respiratory tract infection. Depending on the length of the disease course and the nature of the pathological changes, it is divided into two categories: acute pharyngitis and chronic pharyngitis. The main symptoms of acute pharyngitis are dryness, burning and pain in the throat; while the main symptoms of chronic pharyngitis are discomfort in the throat, dryness, itching, swelling, excessive secretions, burning pain, and a foreign body sensation.

The dry cough caused by pharyngitis is generally an irritating cough, which worsens when lying down at night and is accompanied by itchy and dry throat. Patients can choose dextromethorphan hydrobromide tablets to relieve symptoms. Its main ingredient, dextromethorphan hydrobromide, can exert a central antitussive effect by inhibiting the medullary cough center. No tolerance or addiction has been observed with long-term use. The dosage of this product is oral. 15-30 mg at a time, 3-4 times a day.

You can use the Chinese medicine Lily Solid Gold Tablets for treatment. It is composed of lily, rehmannia, rehmannia root, ophiopogon, Scrophularia, Fritillaria cirrhosa, angelica, white peony, platycodon, and licorice, and has the effects of nourishing yin and moistening the lungs and relieving cough. It is very effective for symptoms of dry cough with little sputum, dry throat and sore throat. The dosage of this product is oral, 5 tablets at a time, 3 times a day. At the same time, the antitussive effect of snow pear paste is also very good, especially for dry cough and long-term cough. The dosage is to be taken with boiled water, 9 to 15 grams at a time, 2 to 3 times a day.

In addition to using the above-mentioned medications for treatment, patients should also pay more attention to their daily diet. Spicy food can easily induce bacterial infection, invade the tracheal mucosa, and make the patient's cough more severe. Therefore, you must eat less foods such as ginger, chili, pepper, leek, coriander, onion, lamb, dog meat, alcohol, coffee, etc.
