What should I do if my three-year-old baby has a fever that doesn't go away for three days?

Since babies have just come into the world, their organs and virus prevention systems are not fully developed, so they are very susceptible to viral infections and cause some diseases. The most common situation for babies is a cold and fever. Some babies may have a fever that does not subside for three days. In this case, active measures should be taken to treat it to prevent more serious symptoms. So here is what to do if a three-year-old baby has a fever that does not subside for three days?

This situation should be caused by acute viral cold and fever. Do not take this situation lightly. You can only use the corresponding antipyretic drugs at home to reduce the fever. If the fever recurs, you need to go to the pediatric department of the hospital for laboratory tests and blood tests.

Guidance:

If the white blood cell count increases, it means the viral cold has been complicated by bacterial infection, and penicillin and intravenous anti-inflammatory treatment must be used in time. If it is a simple viral cold, it is mainly treated with acetaminophen and phellodendron granules. When a fever occurs, it will be cured if it is reduced in time. Generally, it takes more than a week.

Physical fever reduction method:

1. Cold compress method: Take 20° water, soak a soft towel in it and squeeze it until it stops dripping, then place it on the forehead, armpits, and inner thighs to cool down, change it every 3-5 minutes.

2. Warm water bath method (32-34°) and alcohol wiping method, wipe the same area as above. But avoid wiping the chest, abdomen, and back to avoid causing slow heart rate or diarrhea. In the case of sudden high fever (39

°C or above), physical cooling should be adopted while sending to hospital for treatment.

Things to note during a fever:

1. Get more rest and drink more water to replenish water. If your child only has a low-grade fever, there is no need to rush to the hospital for a series of tests. Get plenty of rest, drink plenty of water, and monitor your child closely.

2. Prepare a light meal. During a fever, children should eat some easily digestible food to avoid increasing the burden on their stomach and intestines.

3. Pay attention to the ventilation of the room. Open doors and windows appropriately for ventilation to let the air containing germs flow away. In summer, you can also turn on the air conditioner to maintain the temperature at 28-29℃.

4. Try to choose physical cooling methods. Try to wear loose clothing, take a warm shower, and change sweaty clothes to avoid worsening the fever.

5. When using alcohol to cool down, be sure to do so under the guidance of a doctor and avoid important parts.
