What to do when a child lies

Adults always hate children who lie and think it is a very bad thing. In fact, scientifically speaking, children lying is not just a bad thing. It also shows the children's IQ in some aspects. Parents just need to give their children correct guidance on lying. So what should we do if children lie? Parents should not do anything radical, everyone can do this.

First, actions speak louder than words. If parents discover that their children are lying, they should first check themselves. Research shows that children who lie are most likely to come from families where parents engage in this behavior. If you want to raise an honest child, you should not lie yourself.

Second, respect your children. If you find your child lying or cheating, do not expose or criticize him in public. Instead, quietly call him aside and talk to him alone. First, point out that he lied and the adults already know the truth. Second, tell him that this time he has a chance to correct his behavior. Do not expose or criticize him in public, nor tell his parents or others who may punish him. Third, explain the harm of lying and cheating, and warn him not to do it again. Fourth, believe that he will do well in the future.

Third, get to know your child’s friends. Studies have shown that children who lie usually have friends who lie. Once children enter school, they are very likely to make friends that their parents do not like but cannot control. Sometimes they regard this friendship as more important than the parent-child relationship. Therefore, parents should understand their children's friends and have the right to tell their children that they do not approve of a friend, but they must provide evidence of the friend's bad behavior. In order to help children break up with bad friends, parents must be fully prepared and adopt appropriate methods, such as introducing new well-behaved friends, organizing beneficial activities, or even transferring schools.

Fourth, you need to have a strategy to deal with lying. Often, forcing a child to confess is the worst thing to do.

Although you have "successfully" proved that your child is a liar, what lesson have you taught him in terms of moral character? Experienced parents will find out the reasons for lying and prevent it from happening again. If a child's lying is a warning bell, then the importance of this warning bell should be explained to the child.
