Normal value of jaundice in 32-day-old baby

For babies who are already one month old, if the jaundice has not subsided, they should be checked in time to find out the jaundice value. Under normal circumstances, the baby's jaundice value should not exceed 12 after a full month. If the baby still has jaundice after 32 days, then you should go to the hospital for a check-up and receive regular treatment, such as drug therapy, blue light therapy, sunbathing therapy, etc.

Normal value of jaundice in 32-day-old baby

I don’t know if my baby has any clinical symptoms of jaundice now, and whether his bilirubin level has been checked. Generally speaking, the baby’s jaundice level should not exceed 12 at this time.

My baby's jaundice hasn't subsided at 32 days old. What's going on?

1. Newborns often develop jaundice in hospitals, but it only appears 2-3 days after birth. This is physiological jaundice of the newborn. The hospital will perform a physical examination on the newborn at 4-5 days old, and this is usually when the disease is discovered. It will disappear naturally in 7-14 days without any adverse reactions. This condition is called "physiological jaundice".

2. Family members do not need to worry about physiological jaundice. Once the hospital confirms that it is physiological jaundice, the family will recommend that the newborn baby get more sun exposure. No treatment is usually used.

3. Some are neonatal breast milk jaundice, which will be aggravated by breastfeeding after birth. Jaundice begins within a week after birth and lasts for about two months. It is mainly characterized by increased unconjugated bilirubin and has no clinical symptoms.

4. Therefore, for neonatal breast milk jaundice, the mother can stop breastfeeding for a period of time and replace it with other milk powder. Secondly, you should get more mild sunshine.

5. For neonates diagnosed with breast milk jaundice, it is normal even if the jaundice has not subsided after one month. However, if you do not pay attention and continue to breastfeed, the bilirubin level will increase.

6. Pathological jaundice is usually discovered after birth, and it will recur within one month and even spread throughout the body. If the bilirubin value is greater than the standard value, and the baby has abnormal body temperature, loss of appetite, etc., it is pathological jaundice.

7. If the hospital diagnoses that it is pathological jaundice, it will recommend that the baby stay in the hospital for treatment. Relieve it through blue light. There is one visiting hour per week, and you can only see the baby outside the window. The treatment time is generally 3-4 days, and in severe cases it may take 7-10 days or even longer.

8. In summary, it is necessary to make a judgment based on the identification results given by the hospital. If it is physiological jaundice, just get more sunlight and stop breastfeeding for a while. If it is pathological jaundice, you can go to a pediatrician for treatment.
