Importance of breakfast for children

Importance of breakfast for children

Morning is the time when everyone is most energetic and also the weakest. The energetic part comes from a night of rest, while the weakness comes from the body's adjustment after a night of rest. The body definitely needs more nutrition, especially in the important stage of children's growth. Nutrition absorption is very important. The nutrition in the morning meal is the easiest to absorb. The following is the importance of breakfast for children.

1. Provide sufficient heat energy

In the morning, young children consume a lot of energy through activities and require more energy. Moreover, in addition to the energy consumed by activities, young children also need a large amount of nutrients to supply their growth and development. Breakfast for young children must include starchy foods, such as steamed bread, porridge, cakes, steamed dumplings and other staple foods. This is more conducive to the utilization and absorption of other nutrients, and is also beneficial to promoting the growth and development of young children. Generally, the heat energy of children's breakfast should account for 20% of the total heat energy of the day.

2. Add appropriate amount of protein.

Protein is the material basis of life and one of the most important nutrients for the growth and development of young children. However, the body cannot store too much protein and needs to be supplemented in time.

Animal sources of high-quality protein should be selectively added for young children. Eggs or meat can be arranged for daily breakfast, as can beans and soy products with high-quality plant protein. Onion beef buns, carrot and chicken buns, soybeans with minced meat sauce, dried shrimp stew with shredded tofu, and custard buns can be regularly arranged to meet the basic requirements for the healthy growth of young children.

3. Choose a reasonable combination.

Young children's breakfast directly affects their health. Therefore, when preparing breakfast for young children, more attention should be paid to the combination of various foods. It is also important to replenish water for young children. The combination of dry and liquid foods is beneficial to the absorption of various nutrients in food, such as: milk plus fruit cakes; white porridge with meat floss and jujube-flavored lotus root buns; red bean and millet porridge with onion, cabbage and beef steamed dumplings, shredded vegetable and meat noodles with boiled quail eggs, etc., which are beneficial to the digestion and absorption of young children. Since young children have small stomachs and cannot consume too much food at one time, we pay more attention to the nutritional value of breakfast.

Through the combination of rice and flour, and coarse and fine grains, especially the coarse grains which are rich in B vitamins, vitamin B1 is a nutrient that young children are easily deficient in. Therefore, we let young children eat rice, noodles, corn, glutinous rice, millet, yellow millet, beans, potatoes and other foods to get comprehensive nutrition.

By eating a mixture of refined grains and coarse grains, we can take advantage of their strengths and make up for their weaknesses, give full play to the complementary effects of protein in food, and improve utilization. For example, combinations such as coriander and lean meat millet porridge, glutinous rice, lotus seeds and corn soup, and seedless sweet potato and jujube soup can better promote the growth and development of young children. Even if parents are busy, they should arrange the baby's diet reasonably for the healthy growth of the baby, which will help the baby develop good living habits in the future and avoid the occurrence of many diseases.

The above is an introduction to the importance of breakfast for children. Breakfast is indispensable for adults, let alone for growing children. Experiments have shown that children who eat breakfast every day are stronger, more focused, and much better at learning than children who do not eat breakfast. Therefore, you must eat a nutritious breakfast on time to ensure good health.
